SAM™ is a cross-platform desktop application to perform techno-economic analysis of renewable energy systems.

If you are new to SAM, the NLR SAM team recommends downloading the desktop application, working through an example system aligned with your research interests, and then start investigating the source code. Extensive documentation of the model and a support forum are available on the website https://sam.nrel.gov/.

If you are NLR staff, please reach out to Janine Keith or Brian Mirletz to talk about how you want to use SAM in your project. We've found that getting connected early will save you and your project time and money. We can also connect you to other groups at NLR that have done similar work with SAM.
