The non-standard packaging is related to the tools are built for the
Alcatel-Lucent "Exptools" distribution. The source files are collected
by the developer, and sent to a build machine in a server farm. The
top-level "Makefile" is intended to be used by those automated tools.
However, it should be possible to run from the commmand line with the right environment, e.g.
make awkcc TYPE=ilinux CC=/path/to/gcc
The original source code uses varargs.h, so it will not currently compile with gcc3. It was recently converted to use stdarg.h, and buillds on all
platforms, but has not been heavily tested yet, so the varargs versions
of the files have been left in the source tree.

Lex needs to be run on Solaris machine. awk.lx.c is built on solaris, then
modified by hand to remove the static initialization of yyin and yyout.
(These are now initialized in main.c)
On solaris, math.h provides the definition of atof(), but linux needs
stldlib.h. Added stdlib.h to ear.h
cygwin,darwin build:
Same fixes as linux
awkcc.sh is not returned by the build, as there are hand-edited changes
for each platform.
