Hello all!

I spent my night working on a feature for my discord communities website, committed the code via Claude and had it push it, nothing outside of the normal flow of operations. To my surprise, I woke up the next morning with a wonderful red banner plastered across the top of all github pages:

"The {name} organization has been flagged. Because of that, your organization is hidden from the public. If you believe this is a mistake, contact support to have your organization's status reviewed."

Now, upon navigating to the hyperlinked "Contact Support", there is not an appropriate category to request support for in either the org or my personal account options. After some research, I stumbled across the "Reinstatement and Appeals Form" link. However, this led me right back to where I was.

Can anyone help me in navigating my way through this since I have received no correspondence via email (including the supposed initial flagged reason email) or on a ticket (id: 4596971) I created in most likely the wrong category. It's been over 36 hours at this point. 😢

That sounds incredibly frustrating. If a company has been flagged, then only the support team at GitHub can look into it or change the decision. You've already sent a ticket to the support team, so sending more tickets won't make things happen faster - it might even cause more confusion.
It's really disappointing that there wasn't an email explaining why the organization was flagged. Hopefully, someone from the GitHub team will be able to find your existing ticket, which is ID: 4596971, and direct you to the right place if it was misplaced. This would really help clear up the situation and get things back on track.

Just keep an eye on the email linked to your GitHub account, check your spam folder too, in case they get back to you that way. Hopefully, it's just a mistake and your organization will be back up and running soon.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Having an organization flagged without receiving any explanation can definitely be frustrating.

Unfortunately, organization flags can only be reviewed by GitHub Support, and the community doesn't have access to the reason for the flag or the ability to remove it.

Since you've already opened support ticket #4596971, you've taken the right first step. I would recommend continuing with that existing ticket rather than creating additional ones, even if you aren't sure it was submitted under the ideal category.

Hopefully, a GitHub staff member can take a look at your ticket and either move it to the appropriate queue or provide guidance on the next steps.

Out of curiosity, did the organization contain any newly created repositories, GitHub Pages sites, or automated commits shortly before it was flagged? That information may help identify whether the flag was triggered by an automated detection.

The org has existed for years and had many repositories go through a life cycle of active versus inactive. All activity with the last month has been on existing repositories with commits pushed by myself work with Claude. (Resulting in the TinyPanda and Claude message)

The only thing that changes was I invited a new member to the org so they would help work on the projects, but that was somewhere between 24-48 hours before the flag.

Based on what you've described, nothing you've mentioned would normally be expected to cause an organization to be flagged. Existing repositories, regular commits (even if assisted by Claude), and inviting a new member are all common GitHub workflows.

Since the organization has existed for years and there weren't any major changes beyond inviting a collaborator, it's difficult for the community to determine what triggered the automated flag.

At this point, I think your best option is still to wait for GitHub Support to review your existing ticket. Hopefully, they can determine whether the flag was applied in error or explain what triggered it.

Yeah, I'll keep up on the ticket. It's been a little over 48 hours since creation. Hopefully it won't be too much longer. I've seen some people mention their tickets went weeks without any communication. 😮‍💨
