I am trying to run a python program in GitHub codespaces.
What i am trying to do:
I want to my python program in the codespaces terminal.
What append:
the python program is not running as expected.
error message:
please provided the exact error message shown in the terminal.
steps I already tried:
1.opened GitHub codespaces.
2.opened the terminal.
3.check the python installation.
4.tried running the python file.
relevant command:
python --version
I would appreciate help in identifying the problem and running the python program correctly

right now there is not enough information to debug this. the error message section still contains the template text, and python --version alone does not show what happens when you actually run the script :)

please share:

1. the exact command you used to run the file
2. the complete terminal output
3. what you expected to happen
4. what happened instead

also run these commands in the same terminal and include the output:

pwd
ls -la
command -v python
command -v python3
python --version
python3 --version

then try running the file explicitly with Python 3:

python3 your_file.py

replace your_file.py with the actual filename.

if python3 works but python does not, this is probably just a command or alias issue. if it raises an exception, please paste the full traceback, including the first and last lines.

also let us know whether the repository contains:

.devcontainer/devcontainer.json

a custom dev container can change which runtimes and tools are installed.

if the error says that a module is missing and the project has a requirements.txt, install the dependencies using the same interpreter:

python3 -m pip install -r requirements.txt

if the command exits without an error but prints nothing, please share the smallest version of the script that reproduces the problem.

without the actual command and its output, it is hard to tell whether this is an interpreter, working directory, dependency, or code issue.
