I noticed the elevated permissions required for updating the app in /Applications is only required during the first update, subsequent updates don't need to ask again.
Is it possible to get the heightened permissions for the updater during the initial app installation, so that the first update doesn't require user input?

At present, most updates in /Applications will require elevation prompt as Velopack does not install any system/root services. See velopack/velopack#50

When trying to build delta packages of MacOS with Velopack version 0.0.1298. It's consistently failing with the below error:

MacOS Tahoe has changed the way packages work. See velopack/velopack#737 for more info. The workaround for now is to use an older operating system or disable installer creation with --noInst
