Hey 👋 Visitor!

I'm Chinedu Ekene Okpala

I'm a Full-Stack Software Engineer and Founder based in Accra, Ghana, currently building Waytu, a real-time ride-matching and carpooling platform focused on improving urban mobility in African cities.

Over the years, I’ve worked across multiple technologies, including Python, Rust, and TypeScript, building systems that emphasize scalability, reliability, and real-world impact. I enjoy tackling complex technical problems—from designing data-driven systems to building real-time platforms that coordinate users, data, and infrastructure at scale.

Beyond coding, I care deeply about leadership, collaboration, and building strong teams. I believe great products come from clear communication, thoughtful architecture, and people aligned around solving meaningful problems.

I enjoy building systems that tackle real-world infrastructure problems in emerging markets.

🚀 Current Project: Waytu

Waytu is a real-time ride-matching and carpooling platform designed to improve urban mobility by efficiently connecting commuters and car owners through dynamic ride coordination.

The platform focuses on improving urban mobility by efficiently connecting commuters with car owners through dynamic ride matching and coordinated carpooling.

Core technical focus areas include:

  • Real-time geospatial matching
  • Multi-passenger carpool coordination
  • Event-driven backend architecture
  • Scalable microservices using Rust and Python
  • Mobile application built with React Native

🧠 Technical Interests

I enjoy working on systems that involve:

  • Real-time systems
  • Distributed systems
  • Geospatial computing
  • Mobility and transportation systems
  • Data-driven decision platforms
  • Backend infrastructure and APIs

Always building and learning

  • 🔭 I’m currently focused on building Waytu, a mobility platform connecting commuters and car owners through real-time ride matching and carpooling.
  • 🌱 I’m continuously improving my technical leadership and product thinking while working across Rust, Python, and TypeScript.
  • 👯 I’m open to collaborating with engineers interested in Rust, Python, and React Native, particularly around mobility, geospatial systems, and real-time platforms.
  • 🤔 I’m exploring how AI can enhance mobility platforms, including smarter ride matching, demand prediction, and route optimization.
  • 💬 Ask me about Rust, Python, TypeScript, system design, and real-time platform architecture.
  • 📫 How to reach me: Email | Twitter | Portfolio Website
  • 😄 Pronouns: He/Him
  • ⚡ Fun fact: I enjoy solving hard problems and building products that people actually use.
