The purpose of this project is to explore how gravity affects weight on different worlds using mathematics, Excel, and space science fundamentals.
How does a person's weight change on Earth, the Moon, and Mars?
Gravitational Acceleration:
- Earth = 9.81 m/s²
- Moon = 1.62 m/s²
- Mars = 3.71 m/s²
Weight Formula:
Weight = Mass × Gravity
The analysis showed that weight changes significantly depending on gravity.
Although a person's mass remains the same, weight is different on Earth, the Moon, and Mars.
The Moon produced the lowest weight values because of its much weaker gravity, while Earth produced the highest.
The results highlighted how planetary environments can influence movement, exploration, and engineering design.

Before working on this project, I often used the words mass and weight as if they meant the same thing.
However, I learned that mass remains constant while weight changes depending on the gravitational environment.
This helped me better understand why astronauts experience different physical conditions on different worlds and how gravity influences movement and exploration beyond Earth.
