docs: `-d=n` is not working

It looks like the = syntax only works for the long form of these arguments, the short form takes every character afterwards literally (e.g. it should be -d1 or -d 1). We should see if there's a workaround for this, such as removing any leading = character (I'm not sure if this would break anything else though).

For now updating the docs is probably sufficient, after which we can re-purpose this issue for the long term solution.

This should be fixed now, let me know if you run into any other instances (I could have missed a few). I couldn't find an obvious way of fixing the short-form version, and confusingly, it works with anything that's not a single character (e.g. -fs=1 works but -d=1 does not).

For now I think we'll just have to leave this as-is, and avoid recommending the = syntax for anything except long-from args. And for consistency with short ones, just use a space.
