Hello, I'm Derek Corniello!

I'm a Fifth Year CS/SWE student at the University of Cincinnati, currently interning at Linked[in] on internal tooling and productivity engineering. I interned at Fifth Third Bank doing cloud software and infrastructure. Before that, I interned with Siemens Digital Industry Software for the previous 2 years, working on internal tools, backends, AI tooling, API design.

I’m excited about programming languages, software architecture, developer tooling, developer relations, and back-end development. My passion, curiosity and eagerness to learn drive me to keep exploring, one project and concept at a time!

Currently working on:

  • MuxLang, the programming language for everyone!
  • hunch, an improvement on zsh's suggestion layer that learns how you develop based off of history
  • dia, a GUI app meant to be tmux for all of your apps!

Fixed bugs in other FOSS:

  • Teams for Linux, an issue with GPUs acceleration and displaying data.
  • Hymission, an additional feature for window expansion similar to the experience on MacOS.
  • Hyprexpo, a SEGFAULT causing a system crash during window expansion due to dangling weak pointer dereferencne.
