What changed

  • Added a dedicated translation dictation mode with a configurable hotkey chord and target language.
  • Kept translation processing isolated from edit-command detection, screen context, and deferred replacement behavior.
  • Added localized settings, status text, documentation, and coverage for translation prompts and hotkey activation.
  • Consolidated legacy command, LLM payload, text normalization, model-management, screen, insertion, and settings helpers.
  • Removed 11 fragmented Swift source files and centralized repeated case-insensitive dictionary and remote payload parsing logic.

Why

OpenType needed a direct voice-to-translation workflow. Earlier feature work had also accumulated small single-purpose files and repeated parsing helpers, making the existing code harder to navigate and maintain.

Impact

Users can dictate directly into a selected target language using a separate shortcut. Existing dictation and command behavior remains unchanged. The internal refactor reduces duplication while preserving existing public behavior.

Validation

  • swift test --quiet — 470 tests passed, 7 environment-dependent tests skipped, 0 failures.
  • bash scripts/ci-basic-checks.sh — passed.
  • bash scripts/build-and-run.sh --verify — OpenType app and CLI built successfully; app signing completed.
  • git diff --check — passed.

What changed
  • Added a dedicated translation dictation mode with a configurable hotkey chord and target language.
  • Kept translation processing isolated from edit-command detection, screen context, and deferred replacement behavior.
  • Added localized settings, status text, documentation, and coverage for translation prompts and hotkey activation.
  • Consolidated legacy command, LLM payload, text normalization, model-management, screen, insertion, and settings helpers.
  • Removed 11 fragmented Swift source files and centralized repeated case-insensitive dictionary and remote payload parsing logic.
Why
OpenType needed a direct voice-to-translation workflow. Earlier feature work had also accumulated small single-purpose files and repeated parsing helpers, making the existing code harder to navigate and maintain.
Impact
Users can dictate directly into a selected target language using a separate shortcut. Existing dictation and command behavior remains unchanged. The internal refactor reduces duplication while preserving existing public behavior.
Validation
  • swift test --quiet — 470 tests passed, 7 environment-dependent tests skipped, 0 failures.
  • bash scripts/ci-basic-checks.sh — passed.
  • bash scripts/build-and-run.sh --verify — OpenType app and CLI built successfully; app signing completed.
  • git diff --check — passed.
