Compression DB tab crashes

When I run it from the Windows “Downloads” folder and switch to the Compression DB tab, it crashes immediately.

However, if I place the EXE file in a subfolder of the “Downloads” folder, it runs normally. It appears that the .CompactGUIData directory is not being created successfully in the “Downloads” folder.

Can you please post the logs? I can't replicate that issue.
It only creates the .CompactGUIData folder if you place the exe in a folder called "CompactGUI". Otherwise it stores the data and logs in %LOCALAPPDATA%/IridiumIO/CompactGUI

I am also running into the same issue where databasev2.json is said to be being used by another process on the latest version of CompactGUI, it does not happen on beta 8

I think I found the issue:
If the database is being updated (downloading a fresh one from github) while you open the database tab, it will crash with a "in use by another process" error.

• if you then re-launch CompactGUI, the crash might have caused the download to break the database, so it will crash again the next time we read the database (either when compressing or when we open the database tab again).

Working on a fix for this now :)
