LikeMinds

Likeminds elevates businesses in unlocking the true potential of their users through their in-app community and social network.

LikeMinds

Drop-in chat and social feed for Android, iOS, Flutter, React and React Native.

Everything below is open source under Apache 2.0: the client SDKs, the data layers underneath them, and the backend services they talk to. 40 repositories.

We open sourced this because teams shipping our SDKs shouldn't have to wait on us for a UI change, and because the data layers are useful on their own if you'd rather build your chat or feed UI from scratch.

How it fits together

Every platform ships two layers:

  • A UI layer you install and theme.
  • A data layer underneath it handling auth, networking, realtime sync, offline caching and media upload.

The data layers work standalone. Several repos below are complete chat and feed UIs built directly on a data layer, skipping our components entirely.

Chat SDK

Group chatrooms, 1:1 DMs with request/approve/block, emoji reactions, reply/edit/delete/forward, @-mentions, polls, voice notes, images, video, GIFs, PDFs, link previews, search across chatrooms and members, secret chatrooms and invites, report and moderation, push notifications, and offline sync with a local DB.

Three product shapes, switched by theme: community (groups only), networking (DMs only), hybrid (both).

Three product shapes, switched by theme: social feed, Q&A feed with upvotes and top answers, and a vertical reels-style video feed.

UI SDKs

RepositoryWhat it is
likeminds-feed-androidAndroid Feed UI SDK in Kotlin: 16 screens and around 45 themeable widgets, each paired with a *ViewStyle class so the whole feed restyles from one transformer
likeminds-feed-iosiOS Feed UI SDK in Swift, with social, Q&A and video view models sharing abstract base classes, and post creation running as background operations. The UI pod has zero external dependencies
likeminds-feed-flutterMelos monorepo holding the Flutter Feed core and UI packages, adding feedrooms, a guest flow, user connections and Flutter web support, with per-screen builder, style, settings and config overrides

likeminds-feed-flutter-dataDart data layer: LMFeedClient across 17 method groups, Dio with automatic retry, Hive persistence and GetIt dependency injection
likeminds-feed-js-dataJavaScript data layer, split into per-domain clients. The moderation client is the richest: report queues, report status updates and member-rights management
likeminds-feed-reactnative-dataReact Native data layer: wraps the JS client and adds AsyncStorage persistence for tokens, user, seen posts and onboarding state
likeminds-feed-ios-data-xcPrebuilt LikeMindsFeed.xcframework binary that the published iOS data pod vendors
likeminds-feed-reactnative-uiStandalone LMFeed-UI component kit: base atoms like LMButton, LMHeader and LMText, plus composed components such as LMPost split into header, content, media, footer and menu

Theming and white-label builds

Seven real customisations, from a two-file colour swap to a full rebrand. Read these for the pattern rather than as current starting points, since the Flutter ones pin 2024 SDK versions.

RepositoryWhat it is
likeminds-feed-flutter-social-darkThe heaviest customisation: a near-black and purple dark theme, Gantari font, a full custom SVG icon set and a branding layer on top
likeminds-feed-flutter-surassaA blue and Inter light theme with card-style posts, custom header, content, footer and topic builders, a custom report screen and relative timestamps
likeminds-feed-flutter-koshiqaThe lightest possible customisation: a colour theme in two Dart files

likeminds-feed-reactnative-social-topicsA React Native build with a custom universal-feed screen, a topic filter, and a create-post button restricting one topic to community managers
likeminds-feed-reactjs-resourceA React feed hand-built directly on the JS data layer, bypassing the React SDK entirely. The reference for going fully custom

Standalone Android libraries

Both work in any Android app. No LikeMinds account needed.

RepositoryWhat it is
likeminds-android-custom-galleryA WhatsApp-style media picker: browse images, video, docs and audio, multi-select, crop, freehand draw, text overlay, video trimming and audio waveforms
likeminds-android-user-tagging@-mention autocomplete for any EditText. You supply the user list, it handles the overlay, the spans and the encode/decode

Backend services

Six services, each named after a collective noun for a group of animals. A caravan of camels, a kettle of hawks, a pandemonium of parrots, a skulk of foxes, a swarm of bees.

Chat and Feed are not symmetrical on the server. caravan is Django on Postgres, swarm is Go on MongoDB. They were built at different times by different teams, and neither is a port of the other. Realtime is shared.

RepositoryWhat it is
likeminds-caravanThe Chat service. Chatrooms and members, conversations, communities and membership, onboarding, cohorts, notifications, search, sync, webhooks, multimedia upload, moderation rights and a Django CMS. Django 3.0 and DRF, Celery on RabbitMQ, Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch 7
likeminds-swarmThe Feed service and its background workers. Posts, the pending-post moderation queue, comments, likes, saves, topics, polls, widgets, activity feed, connection feed, entity impressions and webhooks. MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch. Background work on asynq with cron scheduling. Go and Gin
likeminds-kettleThe client-facing API gateway, shared by both products. OTP and social login, JWT issue and refresh, account merge, device registration, plus the chatroom, feed, community, channel, search, widget, poll and moderation surfaces. No database of its own, just Redis and calls to sibling services. Two Gin routers on two ports, 216 per-endpoint OpenAPI files
likeminds-pandemoniumRealtime fan-out, shared by Chat and Feed. A WebSocket subscribe endpoint, a publish endpoint and a delivery report, plus the read models used to resolve who an event actually goes to. Redis pub/sub over gorilla/websocket, Postgres via GORM. Go and Gin
likeminds-skulkSubscriptions and payments. Plans, subscriptions, orders, transactions, hosted payment pages, settlements and payouts, KYC, and scheduled jobs expiring subscriptions. Also owns the rate-limit tiers that kettle reads. Django and DRF, Celery on RabbitMQ, Postgres, Elasticsearch
likeminds-stampedeLoad testing. Terraform that stands up a disposable replica of the whole estate on Azure or GKE to run load tests against and measure cost and API performance. Nothing in production touches it

Deployment tooling in these repos is retained for reference and is not operational.

Theming and white-label builds

Seven real customisations, from a two-file colour swap to a full rebrand. Read these for the pattern rather than as current starting points, since the Flutter ones pin 2024 SDK versions.

RepositoryWhat it is
likeminds-feed-flutter-social-darkThe heaviest customisation: a near-black and purple dark theme, Gantari font, a full custom SVG icon set and a branding layer on top
likeminds-feed-flutter-surassaA blue and Inter light theme with card-style posts, custom header, content, footer and topic builders, a custom report screen and relative timestamps
likeminds-feed-flutter-koshiqaThe lightest possible customisation: a colour theme in two Dart files
likeminds-feed-android-social-feed-themeA minimal two-file Android example of the social feed theme
likeminds-feed-reactnative-social-topicsA React Native build with a custom universal-feed screen, a topic filter, and a create-post button restricting one topic to community managers
likeminds-feed-reactjs-resourceA React feed hand-built directly on the JS data layer, bypassing the React SDK entirely.

Docs:https://docs.likeminds.io/ · REST API:https://docs.likeminds.io/rest-api · Website:https://likeminds.io

Docs:https://docs.likeminds.io/ · REST API:https://docs.likeminds.io/rest-api · Website:https://likeminds.io

UI SDKs

likeminds-chat-reactnative-dataReact Native data layer: wraps the JS client and adds Realm models for chatrooms, conversations, attachments, polls and reactions, plus token storage and a local-cache API
likeminds-chat-ios-data-xcPrebuilt LikeMindsChat.xcframework binary of the iOS data layer, for teams who would rather not build from source

Reference builds

RepositoryWhat it is
likeminds-chat-reactjs-trayaA complete chat UI hand-built directly on the JS data layer, bypassing the React SDK entirely. The reference for going fully custom
likeminds-chat-reactnative-trayaA React Native app on the RN core with a custom bottom-tab navigator and bundled brand fonts
likeminds-chat-feed-flutter-demoA Flutter sample app running Chat and Feed side by side

Feed SDK

Universal and personalised feeds, posts carrying text, images, video, documents, link previews, polls and custom widgets, comments with nested replies, likes with liker lists, topics and topic-filtered feeds, @-mentions, save, pin, hide, repost, search, an activity feed, a pending-post moderation queue, background upload with retry, and push notifications.

The UI pod has zero external dependencies
likeminds-feed-flutterMelos monorepo holding the Flutter Feed core and UI packages, adding feedrooms, a guest flow, user connections and Flutter web support, with per-screen builder, style, settings and config overrides
likeminds-feed-reactjsReact 18 Feed SDK with genuinely parallel social and Q&A implementations, plus a moderation screen carrying a pending-post approval queue, a report queue and a member-permissions editor

likeminds-feed-js-dataJavaScript data layer, split into per-domain clients. The moderation client is the richest: report queues, report status updates and member-rights management
likeminds-feed-reactnative-dataReact Native data layer: wraps the JS client and adds AsyncStorage persistence for tokens, user, seen posts and onboarding state
likeminds-feed-ios-data-xcPrebuilt LikeMindsFeed.xcframework binary that the published iOS data pod vendors
likeminds-feed-reactnative-uiStandalone LMFeed-UI component kit: base atoms like LMButton, LMHeader and LMText, plus composed components such as LMPost split into header, content, media, footer and menu

Theming and white-label builds

UI SDKs

likeminds-chat-reactnative-dataReact Native data layer: wraps the JS client and adds Realm models for chatrooms, conversations, attachments, polls and reactions, plus token storage and a local-cache API
likeminds-chat-ios-data-xcPrebuilt LikeMindsChat.xcframework binary of the iOS data layer, for teams who would rather not build from source

Reference builds

RepositoryWhat it is
likeminds-chat-reactjs-trayaA complete chat UI hand-built directly on the JS data layer, bypassing the React SDK entirely. The reference for going fully custom
likeminds-chat-reactnative-trayaA React Native app on the RN core with a custom bottom-tab navigator and bundled brand fonts
likeminds-chat-feed-flutter-demoA Flutter sample app running Chat and Feed side by side

Feed SDK

Universal and personalised feeds, posts carrying text, images, video, documents, link previews, polls and custom widgets, comments with nested replies, likes with liker lists, topics and topic-filtered feeds, @-mentions, save, pin, hide, repost, search, an activity feed, a pending-post moderation queue, background upload with retry, and push notifications.

The UI pod has zero external dependencies
likeminds-feed-flutterMelos monorepo holding the Flutter Feed core and UI packages, adding feedrooms, a guest flow, user connections and Flutter web support, with per-screen builder, style, settings and config overrides
likeminds-feed-reactjsReact 18 Feed SDK with genuinely parallel social and Q&A implementations, plus a moderation screen carrying a pending-post approval queue, a report queue and a member-permissions editor
likeminds-feed-reactnativeReact Native Feed SDK, running on both bare RN CLI and Expo managed workflow, with a user-onboarding screen and anonymous-post support

Data and component layers

RepositoryWhat it is
likeminds-feed-android-dataKotlin data layer: LMFeedClient with roughly 50 functions across post, comment, feed, topic, user, moderation, notification, poll and search clients, on a Room DB tracking offline uploads and seen posts
likeminds-feed-ios-dataSwift data layer covering posts, comments, likes, polls, topics, notifications, moderation, members and feedrooms. Alamofire only, no local DB at this layer
likeminds-feed-flutter-dataDart data layer: LMFeedClient across 17 method groups, Dio with automatic retry, Hive persistence and GetIt dependency injection
likeminds-feed-js-dataJavaScript data layer, split into per-domain clients.

RepositoryWhat it is
likeminds-feed-flutter-social-darkThe heaviest customisation: a near-black and purple dark theme, Gantari font, a full custom SVG icon set and a branding layer on top
likeminds-feed-flutter-surassaA blue and Inter light theme with card-style posts, custom header, content, footer and topic builders, a custom report screen and relative timestamps
likeminds-feed-flutter-koshiqaThe lightest possible customisation: a colour theme in two Dart files
likeminds-feed-android-social-feed-themeA minimal two-file Android example of the social feed theme
likeminds-feed-reactnative-social-topicsA React Native build with a custom universal-feed screen, a topic filter, and a create-post button restricting one topic to community managers
likeminds-feed-reactjs-resourceA React feed hand-built directly on the JS data layer, bypassing the React SDK entirely.
