Repo-level auto-merge is unavailable on this plan. The automerge job now merges directly (--squash) once the required gate job succeeds. When this PR lands, every subsequent green PR lands automatically.

GITHUB_TOKEN cannot call mergePullRequest on its own PR (integration
restriction: 'Resource not accessible by integration'). Use a PAT
stored as the AUTOMERGE_TOKEN repository secret instead.

Repository auto-merge (gh pr merge --auto) requires a paid plan and is
unavailable here ('Resource not accessible by integration' regardless
of token). The job now merges directly with --squash: it only starts
after the required gate job succeeds (needs: gate), so merging at that
point is exactly the auto-landing semantics.

Repo-level auto-merge is unavailable on this plan. The automerge job now merges directly (--squash) once the required gate job succeeds. When this PR lands, every subsequent green PR lands automatically.

ci: use AUTOMERGE_TOKEN PAT for the auto-merge step

GITHUB_TOKEN cannot call mergePullRequest on its own PR (integration
restriction: 'Resource not accessible by integration'). Use a PAT
stored as the AUTOMERGE_TOKEN repository secret instead.

ci: automerge job merges directly once the gate is green

Repository auto-merge (gh pr merge --auto) requires a paid plan and is
unavailable here ('Resource not accessible by integration' regardless
of token). The job now merges directly with --squash: it only starts
after the required gate job succeeds (needs: gate), so merging at that
point is exactly the auto-landing semantics.
