Description

  • The XDG Desktop Portal capture backend never sets env_width and env_height on the display_t object, leaving them at their default value of 0.
  • touch_port_t::operator bool() checks env_width != 0 && env_height != 0, so it returns false, causing all touch/absolute input events to be silently dropped with the message "Ignoring early absolute input without a touch port".
  • The KMS backend correctly sets these fields in its init() (at kmsgrab.cpp:715-716), but the portal backend was missing this entirely.
  • Since the portal backend captures a single display, the environment dimensions equal the capture dimensions, so the fix is simply env_width = width; env_height = height; after the final display dimensions are determined.

I don't have any touch devices, but it I assume it works as expected. I can confirm that absolute pointer mode is fixed by the PR.

The XDG Desktop Portal capture backend never sets env_width and
env_height on the display object, leaving them at 0. This causes
touch_port_t::operator bool() to return false (it checks that
env_width != 0 && env_height != 0), which silently drops all
touch/absolute input events with "Ignoring early absolute input
without a touch port".
The KMS backend correctly sets these in its init(), but the portal
backend was missing this. Since portal captures a single display,
the environment dimensions equal the capture dimensions.

This causes
touch_port_t::operator bool() to return false (it checks that
env_width != 0 && env_height != 0), which silently drops all
touch/absolute input events with "Ignoring early absolute input
without a touch port".
The KMS backend correctly sets these in its init(), but the portal
backend was missing this. Since portal captures a single display,
the environment dimensions equal the capture dimensions.
