out of the box version 1.7 is broken: use of tabs/whitespace error

Hello,
The lib installed by pip (1.7) is broken apparently, it fails with an error message saying inconsistent use of tabs and whitespace inside metrics.py file

However the git version does not seem to have this issue.

I had to do some very dirty workarounds to get it working in an automated way...

Could you please check what the problem is?
