Description

After successfully submitting a vote on the eVoting platform (with the eID wallet app closed and biometric verification required), the vote is recorded correctly — but an error dialog reading "Failed to create signing session" is displayed instead of a clean success state. The user is shown a "Try Again" prompt even though their vote was already cast.

Pre-requisite: Keep the eID Wallet application closed with biometric verification enabled.

  1. Open the eVoting app and open an existing poll (e.g. "Food choice")
  2. Select a voting option (e.g. "Fries")
  3. Submit the vote — this triggers biometric/signing via the eID wallet
  4. Complete the biometric verification

Expected behavior

The vote is submitted successfully with no error message. The user is returned to the poll view showing their selected option, with no error dialog shown.

Description
After successfully submitting a vote on the eVoting platform (with the eID wallet app closed and biometric verification required), the vote is recorded correctly — but an error dialog reading "Failed to create signing session" is displayed instead of a clean success state. The user is shown a "Try Again" prompt even though their vote was already cast.

Steps to reproduce
Pre-requisite: Keep the eID Wallet application closed with biometric verification enabled.
  1. Open the eVoting app and open an existing poll (e.g. "Food choice")
  2. Select a voting option (e.g. "Fries")
  3. Submit the vote — this triggers biometric/signing via the eID wallet
  4. Complete the biometric verification
Expected behavior
The vote is submitted successfully with no error message. The user is returned to the poll view showing their selected option, with no error dialog shown.

Additional Context
  • The vote is successfully recorded (the poll shows "You voted for this option") — this is a UI/signing session cleanup issue where the error fires even on success.
  • The error only appears to occur when the eID wallet app is closed and biometric verification is invoked during the signing flow.
  • Tapping "Try Again" after the vote is already cast may result in a duplicate vote attempt.
