Summary

  • Makes the obol CLI consumable by AI agents (Claude Code, MCP clients, OpenClaw) while preserving human DX
  • Adds structured output, input hardening, schema introspection, dry-run, and MCP surface

Closes#268

Phases

  1. Global --output json + --from-json raw input
  2. Input validation (internal/validate/) + headless paths for interactive flows
  3. Schema introspection (obol describe)
  4. --fields support for context window discipline
  5. --dry-run for mutating commands
  6. Agent CONTEXT.md + skills updates
  7. MCP surface (obol mcp)

Test plan

  • obol sell list -o json | jq . produces valid JSON
  • obol sell http '../etc/passwd' ... rejects path traversal
  • obol describe sell http | jq .schema returns ServiceOfferSpec schema
  • obol sell list -o json --fields name, status filters fields
  • obol sell http test --dry-run -o json returns manifest without applying
  • echo '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"tools/list","id":1}' | obol mcp returns tool list
  • go test ./internal/ui/ ./internal/validate/ ./internal/schemas/ ./cmd/obol/

Tracking branch for making the obol CLI consumable by AI agents
while preserving human DX. See issue #268 for full plan.
7-phase plan to make the obol CLI consumable by AI agents
while preserving human DX: structured output, input hardening,
schema introspection, dry-run, field masks, CONTEXT.md, and MCP.

Summary

  • Makes the obol CLI consumable by AI agents (Claude Code, MCP clients, OpenClaw) while preserving human DX
  • Adds structured output, input hardening, schema introspection, dry-run, and MCP surface

Closes#268

Phases

  1. Global --output json + --from-json raw input
  2. Input validation (internal/validate/) + headless paths for interactive flows
  3. Schema introspection (obol describe)
  4. --fields support for context window discipline
  5. --dry-run for mutating commands
  6. Agent CONTEXT.md + skills updates
  7. MCP surface (obol mcp)

Test plan

  • obol sell list -o json | jq . produces valid JSON
  • obol sell http '../etc/passwd' ... rejects path traversal
  • obol describe sell http | jq .schema returns ServiceOfferSpec schema
  • obol sell list -o json --fields name, status filters fields
  • obol sell http test --dry-run -o json returns manifest without applying
  • echo '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"tools/list","id":1}' | obol mcp returns tool list
  • go test ./internal/ui/ ./internal/validate/ ./internal/schemas/ ./cmd/obol/

Tracking branch for making the obol CLI consumable by AI agents
while preserving human DX. See issue #268 for full plan.
7-phase plan to make the obol CLI consumable by AI agents
while preserving human DX: structured output, input hardening,
schema introspection, dry-run, field masks, CONTEXT.md, and MCP.
