Summary

This PR systematically replaces direct fmt package calls with the ui.UI abstraction layer throughout the codebase. This improves consistency in output formatting, enables better control over message styling (info, warning, success, error, etc.), and makes the codebase more maintainable.

Key Changes

  • cmd/obol/sell.go: Replaced ~50+ fmt.Printf/Println calls with appropriate u.Info(), u.Infof(), u.Warnf(), u.Successf(), u.Dim(), u.Print(), u.Blank(), and u.Detail() methods. Fixed variable shadowing issue where u was reassigned in a nested scope.

  • cmd/obol/network.go: Converted network list and add command output to use UI methods instead of raw fmt calls, improving message categorization (info, warning, success).

  • cmd/obol/model.go: Updated model setup, pull, and list commands to use UI abstraction for consistent output formatting.

  • internal/openclaw/openclaw.go: Updated interactiveSetup() and related functions to accept and use *ui.UI parameter for output, replacing fmt calls with UI methods.

  • internal/openclaw/import.go: Modified PrintImportSummary() to accept *ui.UI parameter and refactored detectExistingConfigAt() to collect notes in ImportResult.Notes slice instead of printing directly via fmt.

  • internal/openclaw/wallet.go: Updated ensureWallet() to accept *ui.UI parameter and use UI methods for output.

  • internal/dns/resolver.go: Added *ui.UI parameter to all public functions (EnsureRunning, Stop, ConfigureSystemResolver, RemoveSystemResolver) and internal helpers, replacing fmt calls with UI methods.

  • internal/x402/setup.go: Updated EnsureVerifier() and Setup() to accept *ui.UI parameter for consistent output.

  • internal/stack/stack.go: Updated calls to DNS and update functions to pass UI instance.

  • internal/tunnel/agent.go: Added *ui.UI parameter to SyncAgentBaseURL().

  • internal/update/hint.go: Updated HintIfStale() to accept *ui.UI parameter.

  • internal/model/model.go: Updated WarnAndStripV1Suffix() and PullOllamaModel() to accept *ui.UI parameter.

  • Test files: Updated test calls to pass UI instances where needed.

Notable Implementation Details

  • Removed fmt.Println() calls and replaced with u.Blank() for blank lines
  • Converted fmt.Printf() with \n suffix to u.Infof(), u.Warnf(), u.Successf() etc. (without \n)
  • Used u.Detail() for key-value pair output in status displays
  • Used u.Dim() for secondary/less important information
  • Used u.Print() with strings.TrimRight() to handle output that previously had trailing newlines
  • Ensured UI instance is obtained early in command actions via getUI(cmd) and passed through function calls
  • Fixed variable shadowing where u was being reassigned in nested scopes

ui.UI methods (Info, Warn, Success, Detail, Dim, Print, etc.). Thread

update.HintIfStale, openclaw.ensureWallet, x402.Setup/EnsureVerifier/AddRoute,

Interactive prompts (no-newline input) and progress bars (carriage return)
remain as raw fmt since ui.UI doesn't support those patterns. Server

during parsing, preserving testability of DetectExistingConfig.

Summary
This PR systematically replaces direct fmt package calls with the ui.UI abstraction layer throughout the codebase. This improves consistency in output formatting, enables better control over message styling (info, warning, success, error, etc.), and makes the codebase more maintainable.
Key Changes
  • cmd/obol/sell.go: Replaced ~50+ fmt.Printf/Println calls with appropriate u.Info(), u.Infof(), u.Warnf(), u.Successf(), u.Dim(), u.Print(), u.Blank(), and u.Detail() methods. Fixed variable shadowing issue where u was reassigned in a nested scope.
  • cmd/obol/network.go: Converted network list and add command output to use UI methods instead of raw fmt calls, improving message categorization (info, warning, success).
  • cmd/obol/model.go: Updated model setup, pull, and list commands to use UI abstraction for consistent output formatting.
  • internal/openclaw/openclaw.go: Updated interactiveSetup() and related functions to accept and use *ui.UI parameter for output, replacing fmt calls with UI methods.
  • internal/openclaw/import.go: Modified PrintImportSummary() to accept *ui.UI parameter and refactored detectExistingConfigAt() to collect notes in ImportResult.Notes slice instead of printing directly via fmt.
  • internal/openclaw/wallet.go: Updated ensureWallet() to accept *ui.UI parameter and use UI methods for output.
  • internal/dns/resolver.go: Added *ui.UI parameter to all public functions (EnsureRunning, Stop, ConfigureSystemResolver, RemoveSystemResolver) and internal helpers, replacing fmt calls with UI methods.
  • internal/x402/setup.go: Updated EnsureVerifier() and Setup() to accept *ui.UI parameter for consistent output.
  • internal/stack/stack.go: Updated calls to DNS and update functions to pass UI instance.
  • internal/tunnel/agent.go: Added *ui.UI parameter to SyncAgentBaseURL().
  • internal/update/hint.go: Updated HintIfStale() to accept *ui.UI parameter.

Notable Implementation Details
  • Removed fmt.Println() calls and replaced with u.Blank() for blank lines

update.HintIfStale, openclaw.ensureWallet, x402.Setup/EnsureVerifier/AddRoute,

Interactive prompts (no-newline input) and progress bars (carriage return)
remain as raw fmt since ui.UI doesn't support those patterns. Server

during parsing, preserving testability of DetectExistingConfig.

Summary
This PR systematically replaces direct fmt package calls with the ui.UI abstraction layer throughout the codebase. This improves consistency in output formatting, enables better control over message styling (info, warning, success, error, etc.), and makes the codebase more maintainable.
Key Changes
  • cmd/obol/sell.go: Replaced ~50+ fmt.Printf/Println calls with appropriate u.Info(), u.Infof(), u.Warnf(), u.Successf(), u.Dim(), u.Print(), u.Blank(), and u.Detail() methods. Fixed variable shadowing issue where u was reassigned in a nested scope.
  • cmd/obol/network.go: Converted network list and add command output to use UI methods instead of raw fmt calls, improving message categorization (info, warning, success).
  • cmd/obol/model.go: Updated model setup, pull, and list commands to use UI abstraction for consistent output formatting.
  • internal/openclaw/openclaw.go: Updated interactiveSetup() and related functions to accept and use *ui.UI parameter for output, replacing fmt calls with UI methods.
  • internal/openclaw/import.go: Modified PrintImportSummary() to accept *ui.UI parameter and refactored detectExistingConfigAt() to collect notes in ImportResult.Notes slice instead of printing directly via fmt.
  • internal/openclaw/wallet.go: Updated ensureWallet() to accept *ui.UI parameter and use UI methods for output.

Replace ~200 raw fmt.Print/Printf/Println calls in CLI-path code with
ui.UI methods (Info, Warn, Success, Detail, Dim, Print, etc.). Thread

Interactive prompts (no-newline input) and progress bars (carriage return)

during parsing, preserving testability of DetectExistingConfig.

Replace ~200 raw fmt.Print/Printf/Println calls in CLI-path code with
ui.UI methods (Info, Warn, Success, Detail, Dim, Print, etc.). Thread
*ui.UI through functions that previously lacked it: dns.*, tunnel.SyncAgentBaseURL,
update.HintIfStale, openclaw.ensureWallet, x402.Setup/EnsureVerifier/AddRoute,
model.WarnAndStripV1Suffix/PullOllamaModel.
Interactive prompts (no-newline input) and progress bars (carriage return)
remain as raw fmt since ui.UI doesn't support those patterns. Server
binaries (x402-verifier, x402-buyer, inference gateway) keep stdlib log.
Collect import detection notes in ImportResult.Notes instead of printing
during parsing, preserving testability of DetectExistingConfig.
