Authentication with PoE OAuth

How is Path of Building expected to behave?

On the screen "Import/Export", if you click on the button "Authorize with Path of Exile", the authentication workflow should be initiated by opening a browser window and/or showing a URL for manually copying it, so that the OAuth request can be completed

How does Path of Building behave?

When I click on said button, it says "Logging in... (n)" where n=30 counting down to 0 once per second. Besides it it shows: "Timeout reached without a response received by the local server".

How to reproduce the issue

Use Wine/Bottles to install and start the EXE on linux. Alternatively use an appimage.

It turns out it only happens if I am using soda as the emulator. It works perfectly fine with wine. So I suggest closing this issue here. I will, however, open a PR to harden the code a bit, including a direct copy of the URL into the clipboard, so that the user can use the browser of choice.

Yeah copying it to the clipboard makes sense. Wine currently has problems with opening long urls (or this is debatable. it might be possible, but simplegraphic limits it to 1500-ish characters atm), and all of those also copy to clipboard just in case
