Question: Should gift Pokemon from spin-offs & bonus discs be modeled?

Certain Pokemon are only available in the main series not through special, one time events, but through gifts from side series or spin-off games.

Off the top of my head, I'm thinking of Jirachi, Celebi, Manaphy, and the game Pokemon Dream Radar.

Jirachi:

• In the US in gen 3 this Pokemon is only available from a special disc you got when you pre-ordered Pokemon colosseum. They go on ebay for around 300~ USD at the moment and are not single use. You can receive as many jirachi as you'd like, and it can even be shiny.

• In Non US and Non JP regions Jirachi is available as a gift from the game Pokemon channel.

Celebi:

• Like the US Jirachi, Celebi is available on a special disc you got for pre-ordering Pokemon colosseum, but only in Japan.

Manaphy:

• Manaphy is available to be sent over from Pokemon ranger.

I propose we include these 3 Pokemon by making new encounter_methods in encounter_methods.csv called outside game(or something similar), and the locations could just be US Colosseum Bonus Disc, Pokemon Channel, JPN Colosseum Bonus Disc, and Pokemon Ranger.

I also don't think it's important to have other info about these games.

Pokemon Dream Radar:

• This 3DS E-Shop title features a few legendaries and a ton of regular Pokemon you can capture, all with hidden abilities. The chief purpose of this game is to catch said Pokemon and send them to your copy of Black 2 or White 2. It serves no real purpose otherwise, its hardly even a game on its own.

For dream radar, I think we could make a new encounter method called dream radar, and the location areas could be the extension you need to get said Pokemon.

EDIT:

Thinking of it now, Dream Radar info could also be applied to the Pokewalker. Pokewalker would be encounter method, not a location, and the locations would be the pokewalker levels they may appear in.

I haven't added Locations or a new encounter to this project before, so I want to get it right. I'd appreciate if someone could tell me if I understand the structure correctly:

Encounters.csv: I think everything I need chains from this file. I'll use an example of totodile.

So I'd need to, if it was a new location being added:

1. Make a new ID for a Pokemon encounter
2. Make a new Location in locations.csv
3. Make a new location area for that location. For example, new bark town is location 84. Totodiles location area ID, 184, looks like this:

Game index appears to be the order the locations appear in-game? New bark town is first location, and the second is location_id 108, which is johto-route-29.

A big question here is, I'd be adding new encounter locations that are out of order for something like Gen 3. I'd be adding 3 new locations and location areas at the end of those files rather than grouped with the other gen 3 stuff. Is this acceptable? Or is everythings ID supposed to be moved up to accommodate grouping?

For example, the end of location_areas is a lot of gen 7 stuff.

There are other things to look into, like encounter conditions and prose for the encounter methods.

About the IDs, no worries of they aren't grouped together. Usually it's a hassle to shift many of them, so adding new lines to the bottom is perfectly fine.

FWIW I definitely think gift pokemon can be modelled. I miss Gen IV/Gen V gift Pokemon events (I know how to get them using the DNS trick, but I miss when you had to go to a game shop to get it!)
