Please create a branch for this issue and do the work there. As we agreed:

  1. Please move GPAD_API to PlatformIO.
  2. Please move the "factory tests" to PlatfromIO.
  3. In the README.md, please put a brief (one paragraph or less) description of how to build these firmware pieces with VS Code.
  4. Please put a brief (one paragraph or less) description of how to build "from the command line" (that is, a shell, on a Unix-like system) for Emacs users like Rob.

When done, ping @RobertLRead for code review (no need to wait until the next weekly meeting.
