Installing on immutable distros (Bazzite)

Hi, I'm trying to run this on Bazzite 41. The current installation method requires installing nix. As far as I can tell, nix must be installed to /nix, which is not writeable on my system. I found this guide but it requires using a separate shell to access anything installed through it. I tested installing through Distrobox but SteamVR couldn't detect it. Not sure if there's any special settings I need to set to make it work.

How would I go about installing this on Bazzite? Thanks.

/nix should not be read only. Are you sure you set it up properly? Immutable distros like steamOS have an exception for the /nix directory, and I'm pretty sure bazzite has this exception as well.

Try uninstalling nix and reinstalling with https://github.com/DeterminateSystems/nix-installer

Use Distrobox or other kind of container. You're not supposed to install something like Nix on SilverBlue and the likes.
