The mise migration moved the Node pin into mise.toml but left .nvmrc behind, still pinning v22.14.0.

That is not inert. mise reads idiomatic version files when idiomatic_version_file_enable_tools includes node, and when it does .nvmrc wins over mise.toml:

node 22.14.0 (missing) ~/dev/smooai/logger/.nvmrc 22.14.0 <- wins
node 24.14.0 <- mise.toml, ignored

So a developer with that setting silently got Node 22.14.0 while CI built on 24.14.0 — precisely the local/CI split this migration existed to remove.

CI was never affected: the runner has no such setting, so mise-action correctly used mise.toml. That is why every green run hid this.

The mise migration moved the Node pin into mise.toml but left .nvmrc behind, still pinning v22.14.0.
That is not inert. mise reads idiomatic version files when idiomatic_version_file_enable_tools includes node, and when it does .nvmrc wins over mise.toml:
node 22.14.0 (missing) ~/dev/smooai/logger/.nvmrc 22.14.0 <- wins
node 24.14.0 <- mise.toml, ignored

So a developer with that setting silently got Node 22.14.0 while CI built on 24.14.0 — precisely the local/CI split this migration existed to remove.
CI was never affected: the runner has no such setting, so mise-action correctly used mise.toml. That is why every green run hid this.
