Summary

  • Every dispatched child thread now gets a single-tool MCP server (tcode_report, served at /orchestrate/report, scoped per child by bearer token) exposing report_result {text} — the child calls it to hand its full final report to the orchestrator.
  • The completion callback delivers the reported text verbatim and in full (ignores result_max_chars); a child that never calls the tool falls back to the existing behavior: its final assistant message, tailed with a result pointer when long.
  • Calling report_result again replaces the previous report (last call wins). An orchestrator send clears any stored report so a stale result can't be delivered as the answer to a new correction; archive/close revoke the child token and drop the stored text.
  • Orchestrator guidance (assets/orchestrate/*.md) documents the new contract and tells the orchestrator to request reports via report_result in briefs; pi's unattached-servers notice names the missing reporting tool since pi has no MCP client.

Test plan

  • cargo test --workspace — all green, including new tests:
    • callback_prefers_reported_result_in_full (reported text wins, uncapped; blank report falls back)
    • reported_result_reaches_parent_and_fallback_covers_silent_children (op → store → consume → steered callback wiring; non-child reports refused)
    • child_service_exposes_only_report_result / report_result_carries_child_scope (MCP surface + scoping)
  • cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets clean, cargo fmt --check clean

Pre-existing breakage surfaced by CI's stable toolchain moving to 1.98:
clippy's new chunks_exact_to_as_chunks lint in terminal_drawer, and
improved unused-trait-import detection in the markdown test modules.

Every dispatched child now carries a single-tool MCP server (tcode_report,
served at /orchestrate/report with a per-child bearer token) whose
report_result tool stores the child's full final report. The completion
callback delivers that reported text to the orchestrator verbatim and
uncapped; a child that never calls the tool falls back to the previous
behavior — its final assistant message, tailed when long. A follow-up send
clears any stored report so a stale result can't answer a new correction,
and archive/close revoke the child token and drop the stored text.

Pre-existing breakage surfaced by CI's stable toolchain moving to 1.98:
clippy's new chunks_exact_to_as_chunks lint in terminal_drawer, and
improved unused-trait-import detection in the markdown test modules.
