install redis if needed - brew install redis
install mysql if needed - google brew install mysql
install ruby (suggest using a version manager like rvm, rbenv, or chruby)
install node (need npm for front-end at the moment, can use homebrew to install)
cp config/database.yml.example config/database.yml
edit config/database.yml to connect to your database
bundle install
rake db:create
rake db:migrate
rake db:seed
cd public/deps; npm install
rails s
