### Optional 3D Painter / Sculpting Bridge — ArmorPaint or Material Maker

- **Summary:** Evaluate an optional Parlyn plugin or external-tool bridge to
[ArmorPaint](https://armorpaint.org/) or
[Material Maker](https://github.com/RodZill4/material-maker) for a convenient
3D painting and procedural PBR material workflow. Explore sculpting separately
where the chosen tool actually supports a suitable, stable workflow.
- **Why it may matter:** Small teams could author textures and refine assets
through established tools without requiring Parlyn to build and maintain a
full painter or sculpting application in its engine core.
- **Possible direction:** Start by assessing explicit export/reimport of meshes,
textures and material assignments; consider live-link synchronization only
after a reliable file-based round trip is proven. Embedded UI is not assumed.
- **Dependencies:** Mature Parlyn asset, material and optional-plugin interfaces;
validation of exchange formats, UVs, PBR map conventions, scale and material
mapping; review of each tool's then-current licence, distribution terms,
APIs and Windows support; safe user-controlled external-process execution
and protection against accidental asset overwrites. Godot-based Material Maker
must not introduce a Godot runtime dependency into the Parlyn engine core.
- **Scope note:** Texture painting, procedural materials and mesh sculpting are
distinct capabilities. ArmorPaint currently labels sculpting as in development;
Material Maker's documented painting/material workflow is not a sculpting
compatibility guarantee.
- **Source/date:** Product idea from Andreas Holzer, 2026-09-13; official project
pages linked above.
- **Status:** `Unreviewed` — optional plugin/bridge feasibility review only;
no roadmap commitment, bundled third-party application, engine-core dependency
or public integration/support promise is authorized.

The named Parlyn Smart Systems are not Idea Pool entries: their direction and initial foundation were already accepted before this policy and are documented in `SMART-SYSTEMS.md`. Their further implementation remains paused until their ordered roadmap phase becomes active.
