Building the future of AI-native Software Engineering.

Software should be able to understand, improve and evolve itself.

About

Nous Engineer is the open-source project behind Nous — an AI-native engineering platform built and maintained by ChronoKairo.

We believe the future of software isn't just writing code faster—it's creating systems that can understand projects, reason about architecture, automate engineering tasks, and continuously improve themselves.

Our goal is to empower developers with AI that acts as an engineering partner rather than just a code generator.

Nous

Nous is a single platform composed of independent components that work together but can be used separately:

ComponentRole
nousCore platform — runtime (riluvi), SDK, multi-tenant server, and editor LLM bridges
nous-runtimeOpenCL inference backend for legacy GPUs (GGUF runtime + kernels)
nous-coderRust coding agent — plan/act/verify loop with local LLM (Ollama)
nous-desktopDesktop UI for the platform
nous-labsApplied research (FlashAttention, speculative decoding, etc.)
nous-researchResearch notes on legacy GPU inference (Caicos XT)

What We Build

🧠 AI Agents

Specialized agents for software engineering, architecture, DevOps, security, documentation, testing and code quality.

📚 Knowledge Systems

Semantic understanding of repositories, documentation, APIs and infrastructure.

Developer Tools

AI-native tools that integrate directly into engineering workflows.

🏗 Engineering Infrastructure

Reusable platforms for automation, orchestration and intelligent software maintenance.

🔬 Research

Applied research in Large Language Models, autonomous agents, software engineering and developer experience.

Our Principles

  • Think in decades, not quarters.
  • Build infrastructure before the market needs it.
  • Simplicity scales.
  • Context matters more than prompts.
  • Developers stay in control.
  • AI should amplify engineers—not replace them.
  • Continuous optimization is better than one-time automation.

Areas of Research

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Software Engineering
  • Autonomous Agents

Open Source

We believe that great engineering is built collaboratively.

Community contributions, discussions and ideas are always welcome.

Vision

We're building an ecosystem where software teams spend less time maintaining systems and more time creating value.

The future belongs to software that can learn, reason and improve continuously.

Build software that builds better software.
