[Python][Packaging] Failing musllinux wheels due to new image from quay.io

When adding support and wheels for Python 3.14, the musllinux wheels started failing due to a protobuf issue. See:

We had to use an older version (2025-06-04-496f7e1) in order to have the musllinux wheels built. We should investigate on how to fix this though.

Are these still failing or should this issue be closed?

Probably this is still failing with newer images, we haven't tested to upgrade to the latest images. We should try to update to the newest ones and check whether this is still a problem. We ended up not using the latest images and using a slightly older ones that did not trigger the issue.

I will open up a draft PR that uses the new images and run the wheels. Today or Monday latest.

This issue is still reproducible on musllinux amd64 with the latest quay.io images (2026.05.31-3). I am trying to debug further because this will be a blocker for Python 3.15, Arrow 26.0.0 (October).

I've found a fix but I still don't understand why it failed. Basically it seems like a linker failure. Old musllinux was using ld 2.43.1. With ld 2.44, which is the one on newer Alpine, when we import pyarrow it segfaults with the aforementioned error. If I install and use mold linker instead to build PyArrow on alpine with the new images the wheel built is successful and all tests are passing.
I've tried to find ld reported bugs but haven't been able to find anything relevant. I'll submit a PR using mold on alpine to build wheels.
