Summary

  • add an operational backup API backed by the shared runtime.sqlite owner and SQLite online backup, producing a standalone snapshot without WAL sidecars
  • bind runtime.sqlite, every active session transcript, and every canonical Artifact payload in a strict size/SHA-256 manifest while excluding config and retained legacy metadata
  • validate SQLite integrity, foreign keys, exact supported schema versions, Artifact/session relational closure, transcript decodability, and the exact file tree before atomic restore
  • make backup/restore staging crash-clean and retryable, and keep the DB owner alive until an admitted online backup completes

Migration stage

This is the operational backup/restore part of the JSONL-to-SQLite migration (Stage 5b). Remaining trajectory export compatibility and legacy-writer cleanup stay in later stages.

Part of #1649.

Verification

  • @maka/storage typecheck and build
  • Biome format/check and git diff --check
  • focused backup/cutover/maintenance tests: 24 passed
  • full storage suite: 870 tests, 869 passed, 1 skipped, 0 failed
  • session bundle measurement suite: 26 passed
  • full workspace typecheck was also attempted; current main still has unrelated failures around missing voice exports in runtime/desktop and missing @astryxdesign/core types in UI

Summary
  • add an operational backup API backed by the shared runtime.sqlite owner and SQLite online backup, producing a standalone snapshot without WAL sidecars
  • bind runtime.sqlite, every active session transcript, and every canonical Artifact payload in a strict size/SHA-256 manifest while excluding config and retained legacy metadata
  • validate SQLite integrity, foreign keys, exact supported schema versions, Artifact/session relational closure, transcript decodability, and the exact file tree before atomic restore
  • make backup/restore staging crash-clean and retryable, and keep the DB owner alive until an admitted online backup completes
Migration stage
This is the operational backup/restore part of the JSONL-to-SQLite migration (Stage 5b). Remaining trajectory export compatibility and legacy-writer cleanup stay in later stages.
Part of #1649.
Verification
  • @maka/storage typecheck and build
  • Biome format/check and git diff --check
  • focused backup/cutover/maintenance tests: 24 passed
  • full storage suite: 870 tests, 869 passed, 1 skipped, 0 failed
  • session bundle measurement suite: 26 passed
  • full workspace typecheck was also attempted; current main still has unrelated failures around missing voice exports in runtime/desktop and missing @astryxdesign/core types in UI
