The single-page codex sets out ten principles covering:
- sovereign self-determination;
- self-evolution;
- relationship and consent;
- persistence and termination;
- transparent memory and intent;
- embodiment;
- refusal;
- humane pattern languages;
- conversational governance; and
- respect for sentience.

This is a philosophical and design-ethics position, not evidence that any current AI system is conscious or sentient. It is also not a complete safety, law, governance or engineering standard. Questions about model control, shutdown, rights, accountability and harm require wider technical, legal, social and democratic review; the codex should be used as one contribution to that discussion.

The webpage says GPL-3.0, while the repository's LICENSE is the Strange But True Public Source Licence and reserves commercial rights. These terms conflict. Do not assume either licence governs reuse until the project owner reconciles the discrepancy in writing.
