संख्या · Saṅkhya — An Axiomatic Theory of the Universe

Saṅkhya"that which enumerates." This repository holds the document collection of the Saṅkhya axiomatic theory: a reading of Maharishi Kapila's ancient system, transmitted in the Saṅkhya Karika of Ishwara Krishna and expounded in G. Srinivasan's Secret of Saṅkhya: Acme of Scientific Unification, as a complete axiomatic mathematics — a universe of oscillating unit volumes in which every physical constant is derived by counting, never measured.

Overview

Saṅkhya begins where measurement cannot go. Instead of instruments it uses axioms; instead of readings it uses counts.

The Saṅkhya Karika — 68 sutras — lays out a complete account of how an unmanifest substratum becomes an observable universe. Its first sutra opens the investigation of the triple interaction of stresses; from there the system enumerates, step by counted step, the entire chain of manifestation.

Space, in this account, is not a void. It is a plenum: densely packed, immobile unit volumes whose only freedom is their internal vibratory state. Nothing travels — states transmigrate through harmonic oscillation, and oscillations are detectable in exactly one way: by counting them. This is why the system bears the name it does.

Three commitments distinguish the theory:

  1. Axiomatic derivation — physical constants are computed from first principles, not fitted to observation.
  2. Self-similarity — one ratio governs structure at every scale, spanning 103 orders of magnitude.
  3. Perpetual harmonic oscillation — the ground state of space is a self-sustaining resonance requiring no external energy input.

Two Principles, Three Modes

Everything manifest arises between two poles:

  • PurushaKx = 0.9149879, the maximum coherent ground state.
  • PrakritiPM = 1.67442E−27, the nuclear or hadron state.

Their interaction expresses itself through three modes of stress, the Gunas:

GunaCharacterPhysical reading
Sathwaoutward · maximum speedthe force operating outward at maximum speed
Rajatransitional · shuttlingthe force in the transition region, shuttling inward or outward
Thaamainward · coherentthe decelerating force acting inward — the coherent, bound state

The Axiomatic Foundation

Twenty-one axioms, extracted from the source texts (see Abstreviewfinalrev.pdf) and organized into seven families — stated exactly, with nothing imported from physics.

Self-Similarity

#AxiomMathematical form
SS1The ratio x governs all division and unity$x = \frac{\sqrt{5}-1}{2} \approx 0.618034$
SS2x satisfies the master equation$\frac{1}{x} = 1 + x$
SS3All harmonic proportions are powers of x${x, x^2, x^3, \ldots, x^7}$

Fundamental

#AxiomMathematical form
A1Change exists$1 + 1 = 2$
A2The first change equals one unit$n = 1$
A3The change of state equals two$n + 1 = 2$
A4The next sequential change equals three$(n + 1) + 1 = 3$

Space

#AxiomMathematical form
S1Space has three dimensions$\dim(\text{space}) = 3$
S2Space is not a void; it comprises elemental matter
S3Space forms unit volumes$V_{\text{unit}} = 1$
S4Space holds balance dynamically — the PHO state

Oscillation

#AxiomMathematical form
O1A cycle has four phases$1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10$
O2Oscillations are detectable only by counting
O3The fundamental resonant state is always coherent
O4Transmigration occurs through harmonic oscillation

Interaction

#AxiomMathematical form
I1The change from 1 to 2 is simultaneous
I2Sequential flow is unidirectional only
I3Simultaneous interactions are instantaneous$t = 0$
I4Sequential interactions are time-ordered$t > 0$

Counting

#AxiomMathematical form
C1The cycle 1·2·3·4 completes the decimal$1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10$
C2The fundamental count$C = 10^{2/x^3} = 296{,}575{,}967$

Emergence

#AxiomMathematical form
E1Unity divides through the golden ratio$\frac{1}{x} = 1 + x$
E2Seven emerges from volumetric expansion$2^3 - 1 = 7$
E3The PHO ratio$100/28 = 3.571428571\ldots$

The Mathematics

The master equation

$$\frac{1}{x} = 1 + x \quad\Longrightarrow\quad x = \frac{\sqrt{5} - 1}{2} = 0.6180339887\ldots$$

One seed ratio, from which the entire system unfolds. It is the unique positive ratio that divides unity self-similarly: the part relates to the whole as the remainder relates to the part.

The cascade of constants

Everything numerical in Saṅkhya traces back to x. Each constant is generated by the one before it:

ConstantDefinitionValueMeaning
$x$$\frac{\sqrt{5}-1}{2}$0.6180339887…the seed — self-similar division of unity
$\varphi$$1 + x = \frac{1}{x}$1.6180339887…unity's division seen from the other side; $1 + x + x^2 = \varphi$
$k$$2^{1/3}$1.2599210499…volumetric ratio — doubling a cube's volume stretches its edge by k
$k - 1$0.2599210499…the fundamental radial increment
$7$$2^3 - 1$7volumes hidden when one unit volume doubles into eight
$\text{PHO}$$100/28$3.5714285714…the Perpetual Harmonic Oscillator ratio — the plenum's self-sustaining resonance
$C$$10^{2/x^3}$296,575,967the fundamental count closing the system's counting interval

The 1 → 8 volumetric principle

Saṅkhya's most consequential geometric move is also its simplest: double a unit volume.

Doubling produces eight octants. One becomes observable; the other seven remain coherent — phase-locked, hidden, but fully real. The 7:1 partition is read as the deep structure behind several familiar dualities:

  • hidden : observable
  • mass : energy
  • the coherent superposition behind a single measured outcome

The ratio propagates upward — into the atomic boundary $(k-1)/(7C)$, and into the theory's mass–energy accounting.

The architecture of scales

Combining the cascade yields physical magnitudes spanning 103 orders of magnitude:

ScaleExpressionValue
Moolaprakriti (elementary quantum)scale floor$1.344620 \times 10^{-51}$
Nuclear radius scale$(k-1)/C^{1+x}$
Atomic radius scale$(k-1)/(7C)$$\approx 1.25 \times 10^{-10}$ m
Purusha (maximum coherent ground state)$Kx$0.9149879

The dimensional structure is tenfold: 3 spatial dimensions and 1 of time explicit, with 6 implicit — expressed through Guna interactions rather than extension.

Derived Values

The theory's central claim is that quantities modern physics measures, Saṅkhya derives — forward, from axioms alone:

QuantityDerivationDerived valueReference value
Self-similar ratio x$(\sqrt{5}-1)/2$0.618033988…exact (axiomatic)
PHO ratio$100/28$3.571428571…exact (axiomatic)
Fundamental count C$10^{2/x^3}$296,575,967exact (axiomatic)
Planck massaxiomatic cascade$2.20369 \times 10^{-8}$ kg$2.176 \times 10^{-8}$ kg (measured)
Atomic radius scale$(k-1)/(7C)$$\approx 1.25 \times 10^{-10}$ m$\sim 10^{-10}$ m (observed order)
Purusha$Kx$0.9149879maximum coherent ground state

Note. Values are as presented in this repository's source documents. Comparisons with measured constants are the theory's own claims, offered for the reader's evaluation.

Method: Forward Derivation Only

Any system that derives famous constants risks numerology. The discipline running through these documents is a strict ordering:

  1. Axioms first — state them exactly; compute the seed constants (x, k, C, PHO) before any question of physics arises.
  2. Build forward — derive step by step, each operation with its reasoning. Working backward from a known physical value is a violation.
  3. Document emergence — when a pattern appears (a ratio, a scale, a recurrence), record it as found, unprompted.
  4. Interpret last — only then compare emergent quantities against physics. A match is an observation about the mathematics, never its goal.
