react-component-test-suite

Write consistent, reusable React component test suites for Jest, Vitest, or any testing package that uses global describe() and test() blocks. Each describe block is automatically named after the component under test, so your test output always matches your component tree — no more copy-pasted, drifting suite titles.

Works with @testing-library/react or any render function. Written in TypeScript with full type inference.

componentTestSuite

Creates a describe block with one or more tests for a React component.

Options

  • testTitle (required): Base title for each test. Test suffixes will be appended to this.
  • renderFunction (required): Function to render the component (e.g., render from @testing-library/react).
  • suiteFn (optional): Use describe.skip or describe.only for debugging. Default: describe.
  • insideSuite (optional): Callback for registering lifecycle hooks (beforeEach, afterEach, etc.).
  • Wrapper (optional): Component to wrap the test component (e.g., providers). Default: React.Fragment.

Test Configuration (TestList)

Each test can include:

  • testTitleSuffix (required for 2nd+ tests to differentiate them): Appended to the base testTitle.
  • Component (required for 2nd+ tests): The component to test. First test uses the main Component arg. An error is thrown if subsequent components don't match.
  • beforeRender (optional): Sync or async function called before rendering.
  • afterRender (optional): Sync or async function called after rendering.

FAQ

Does it work with Vitest? Yes. It uses the global describe() and test() functions, so run it with globals: true in your Vitest config (or import them into scope).

Does it work with Jest? Yes, with no configuration — Jest exposes describe and test globally by default.

Do I have to use @testing-library/react? No. Any render function with the signature (ui: React.ReactElement) => void works, including render from @testing-library/react, a custom render wrapper, or a snapshot renderer.

Is it TypeScript-only? No — it ships compiled JavaScript with bundled type declarations, so plain JS projects work too. TypeScript users get full inference on custom test lists.

react-component-test-suite

Write consistent, reusable React component test suites for Jest, Vitest, or any testing package that uses global describe() and test() blocks. Each describe block is automatically named after the component under test, so your test output always matches your component tree — no more copy-pasted, drifting suite titles.

Works with @testing-library/react or any render function. Written in TypeScript with full type inference.

Creates a describe block with one or more tests for a React component.

Options

  • testTitle (required): Base title for each test. Test suffixes will be appended to this.
  • renderFunction (required): Function to render the component (e.g., render from @testing-library/react).
  • suiteFn (optional): Use describe.skip or describe.only for debugging. Default: describe.
  • insideSuite (optional): Callback for registering lifecycle hooks (beforeEach, afterEach, etc.).
  • Wrapper (optional): Component to wrap the test component (e.g., providers). Default: React.Fragment.

Test Configuration (TestList)

Each test can include:

  • testTitleSuffix (required for 2nd+ tests to differentiate them): Appended to the base testTitle.
  • Component (required for 2nd+ tests): The component to test. First test uses the main Component arg. An error is thrown if subsequent components don't match.
  • beforeRender (optional): Sync or async function called before rendering.
  • afterRender (optional): Sync or async function called after rendering.

FAQ

Does it work with Vitest? Yes. It uses the global describe() and test() functions, so run it with globals: true in your Vitest config (or import them into scope).

Does it work with Jest? Yes, with no configuration — Jest exposes describe and test globally by default.

Do I have to use @testing-library/react? No. Any render function with the signature (ui: React.ReactElement) => void works, including render from @testing-library/react, a custom render wrapper, or a snapshot renderer.

Is it TypeScript-only? No — it ships compiled JavaScript with bundled type declarations, so plain JS projects work too. TypeScript users get full inference on custom test lists.

Do I have to use @testing-library/react? No. Any render function with the signature (ui: React.ReactElement) => void works, including render from @testing-library/react, a custom render wrapper, or a snapshot renderer.

react-component-test-suite

Write consistent, reusable React component test suites for Jest, Vitest, or any testing package that uses global describe() and test() blocks. Each describe block is automatically named after the component under test, so your test output always matches your component tree — no more copy-pasted, drifting suite titles.

Works with @testing-library/react or any render function. Written in TypeScript with full type inference.

Creates a describe block with one or more tests for a React component.

Options

  • testTitle (required): Base title for each test. Test suffixes will be appended to this.
  • renderFunction (required): Function to render the component (e.g., render from @testing-library/react).
  • suiteFn (optional): Use describe.skip or describe.only for debugging. Default: describe.
  • insideSuite (optional): Callback for registering lifecycle hooks (beforeEach, afterEach, etc.).
  • Wrapper (optional): Component to wrap the test component (e.g., providers). Default: React.Fragment.

Test Configuration (TestList)

Each test can include:

  • testTitleSuffix (required for 2nd+ tests to differentiate them): Appended to the base testTitle.
  • Component (required for 2nd+ tests): The component to test. First test uses the main Component arg. An error is thrown if subsequent components don't match.
  • beforeRender (optional): Sync or async function called before rendering.
  • afterRender (optional): Sync or async function called after rendering.
