cow code is a fork of opencud — a full terminal + desktop AI coding agent — that has been lovingly led out to pasture.
its a bunch of heiffers. whole lotta heiffers. moooing and chewin cud and filling up with milk and moooing. and then moooing some more. thats the barn.
every trick the cow knows, on film, with public links you can hand to people: docs/features.
what changed and when: CHANGELOG.md, newest first, one line per thing you would notice.
newest: the pasture — every one of your pull requests
is a cow in a pen, drafts to merged, and when a PR changes stage the hand of god comes
down and carries the cow to its new pen.
You need bun. The cow runs on bun.

and a little alert that says mooooo. thats the whole job. it used to switch your
agent on the way past, which meant the mooo button was quietly swapping your model out
from under you, which is a rude thing for a mooo button to do. it doesnt anymore. if you
actually want a different agent,

the session sidebar is always out now, every window width, and you can drag it wider. it remembers how wide you left it. pin the threads you keep crawling back to and they float up to the top like cream. double click a thread name and you rename it right there, inline, no dialog, no ceremony.
settings and help used to be two lonely little icons rattling around at the bottom of the rail. now theyre one proper account row with your name sitting on it. the DEV badge is a cow. the window says cow code, the menu says cow code. theres a patch theme. it has patches. like a cow.
theres a pull requests section down the sidebar and it lists every open PR you wrote, grouped by repo, oldest first, so the one youve been avoiding since tuesday sits right at the top and looks at you.
each one gets exactly one badge, whichever is worst: draft, changes requested, checks failing, unresolved, awaiting review, or ready. underneath it says the actual reason, so you know whose turn it is without opening anything. below all that theres a recently merged flap you can unfold — trailing 30 days, newest first — for when you need to feel something good about yourself.
it shells out to gh, so your private repos actually show up, and it never stashes a token anywhere. paste any github PR link into a chat and it sprouts its own little open/merged/closed badge while youre not looking.
one cow, eighteen coats. every skin is a real breed with a light pelt and a dark pelt, in the theme picker of both the TUI and the desktop app:

pick a breed in the theme dialog. the cow does not judge your choice. the cow has seen everything.
settings has a census now. it counts every time you have ever called your agent some version of "big dog", and every time your agent announced some version of going into big dog mode, across every session on your server. two numbers. total honesty. if your agent big dogs harder than you, the settings panel will tell you to reflect.
scan a QR code and the whole barn is on your phone.
type /qr in the terminal, or hit ⌘K in the desktop app and
pick connect phone. point your camera at the square. now your phone is holding your
real sessions — and not a little read-only window either, a working one. you can
send new messages into a session thats already running and watch it keep going.
couch. kitchen. yard. the line at the coffee place.
two doors. same network: the squares in that dialog, your phone on the same wifi or tailnet as your mac, the mac awake. anywhere: the barn door, one public link with its key baked in, that the box keeps current in the cow's slack DM, so the walk, the train and the dentist's waiting room all count. park it on your home screen and stop thinking about it. the whole story, including what to do when it breaks (nothing), is in the barn door.
