Set Chart area background

It would be nice to have a possibility to fill the canvas background, because by default its white, and when I want to export it to PNG or to PDF - it fills with transparent or black color.

It would be nice to do something like that just to enter as attribute to your directive

@kurkle @benmccann what do you think about including this as a live sample in the docs? I think this question has been asked a bunch and a plugin is definitely the right way to go. I think this could make a nice sample plugin

It'd probably be easier for people to consume as a packaged plugin on npm though

I agree a live example would be good for this. A plugin could handle images etc too, so I don't see why there could not be both.

Side note: We should figure out the final style how those live examples are made before adding too many.

Since this issue keeps comming up as one opened today again #8460, which makes it the third issue about this if I am correct we might want to add an example in the docs for this.

If the way how live examples are shown now is final style.
I think its a good way to show both a steady background and a simple picture is with tabs in the same way as the doughnut/pie example.

Here you can make a minimal example with a plain background color and one with the chartjs logo as background
