Legend labels fall behind chart on small canvas

So you think this is the correct behavior (v2)?

And would be preferred over this (v3):

There might be something to optimize in the layout code still thought, it should ensure 50% of the area is for chart area.
Current implementation takes 50% of the width and divides that by the number of vertical boxes (legend and y axis n the example). That is the maximum width allowed for each box.

The lengend needs a lot more space (in this example) than the scale. An example:

The 25% is not enough, but the combined 50% would be enough for the scale and legend. So this part could be improved.

One easy thing could be introducing another "weight" for the boxes. For example if legend had weight 2 and scale weight 1, the 50% would be divided by 3 and 2 of those portions would be give to legend.

Yes I think the v2 behaviour is correct. The reason behind this is, you want to know what the data represent, for which you need the legend. So in case the screen ever gets soo small this baviour occurs you still want to know what the data is about.

Its the only valid use case I can think of. Also dont think it will happen a lot, guess that the use case of that bugfixx hapens more often. So if it is really needed you can fix it yourself as you pointed out in your fiddle.

So I guess that its better then to keep this behaviour and keep #5561 in tact instead of removing that feature
