T3 cannot safely rewind a Codex conversation while keeping the existing T3 thread identity and restart cursor. The first V1 draft also kept too much live rebind state and left request-response races around rewind.

This V1 adds the provider rewind capability with a fork-stop-persist-recover lifecycle:

  • Validate the retained completed turn, then create a native fork or a fresh target.
  • Stop the source runtime before replacement persistence and recovery.
  • Suppress late source events and terminate pending approvals and structured inputs.
  • Serialize send, stop, rewind, rollback, and pending-request responses per thread.
  • Persist the replacement resume cursor before reporting success.

This is provider infrastructure only. Durable orchestration state, workspace modes, user actions, the shared outbox, and the retry UI remain in V2 through V7.

Scope:

  • Current PR: 20 files, 2,273 additions, 133 deletions.
  • Replacement relative to the first V1 draft: 590 net lines removed.
  • CodexSessionRuntime: 2,115 lines.

Verification:

  • 13 focused test files: 361 tests passed.
  • Server typecheck passed with only 13 existing suggestion diagnostics.
  • Changed-file format and lint checks passed.
  • Whitespace check passed and the worktree is clean.
  • Final review found no critical or important issues.

Implemented and reviewed with gpt-5.6-sol through the Codex harness in T3 Code.
