Integrate arXiv as data source for academic commons quantification #178

Description

@Goziee-git

Problem Statement

The current quantifying system lacks coverage of academic papers, which represent a significant portion of the open commons through preprints and open access publications.

Proposed Solution

Add arXiv data fetching and processing to capture:

  • Open access academic papers
  • CC-licensed preprints
  • Public domain academic works

API Documentation

Acceptance Criteria

  • Fetch arXiv metadata via API
  • Process and filter for open/CC content
  • Integrate into quarterly reporting
  • Add to automated workflow system

Technical Requirements

  • Use arXiv API for data collection
  • Maintain compatibility with current automation system
  • Add appropriate error handling and logging

Impact

Enhances commons quantification by including academic/research content, providing more comprehensive view of open knowledge resources.

Implementation

  • I would be interested in implementing this feature.
