CI

  • Make mock startup deterministic, emit diagnostics on a failed health check, and retain cleanup.
  • Set least-privilege workflow permissions, cancellation for superseded CI, and a job timeout.

Public-repository baseline

  • Add CODEOWNERS, a security-reporting policy, contribution guidance, and Dependabot updates.

Repository settings to apply before public launch

  • Protect main: require pull requests, at least one approval, the CI / action status check, conversation resolution, and up-to-date branches.
  • Block force pushes and branch deletion; restrict direct pushes to maintainers.
  • Require signed commits (if all maintainers use signing) and enable vigilant mode.
  • Enable private vulnerability reporting, Dependabot alerts/security updates, secret scanning with push protection, and code scanning.
  • Set the Actions policy to allow only GitHub/verified actions, and pin third-party actions to full SHAs once versions are settled.

  • Block force pushes and branch deletion; restrict direct pushes to maintainers.
  • Require signed commits (if all maintainers use signing) and enable vigilant mode.
  • Enable private vulnerability reporting, Dependabot alerts/security updates, secret scanning with push protection, and code scanning.
  • Set the Actions policy to allow only GitHub/verified actions, and pin third-party actions to full SHAs once versions are settled.
