We are excited to review your PR.

So we can do the best job, please check:

  • There's a descriptive title that will make sense to other developers some time from now.
  • There's associated issues. All PR's should have issue(s) associated - unless a trivial self-evident change such as fixing a typo. You can use the format Fixes #nnnn in your description to cause GitHub to automatically close the issue(s) when your PR is merged.
  • Your change description explains what the change does, why you chose your approach, and anything else that reviewers should know.
  • You have included any necessary tests in the same PR.

The cause of #6416 is simple: calling Cancel on a disposed CancellationTokenSource. The CancellationTokenSource might be disposed when the handler method get called.

There're three ways to fix this issue

  • disposing object in the right time
  • check if CancellationTokenSource get disposed before canceling
  • don't explicitly dispose CancellationTokenSource and leave it to GC

Eventually I choose the third way because it's challenging to dispose object correctly in multi-thread situation. And checking if an object is diposed before calling seems to verbose.

trialSettings.Parameter = parameter;

using (var trialCancellationTokenSource = new CancellationTokenSource())
var trialCancellationTokenSource = new CancellationTokenSource();

And checking if an object is diposed before calling seems to verbose.

trialSettings.Parameter = parameter;

using (var trialCancellationTokenSource = new CancellationTokenSource())
var trialCancellationTokenSource = new CancellationTokenSource();

This is the only actual change: removing using statement and leave disposing of trialCancellationTokenSource to GC
