🚀 Installation

  1. Clone the Repository:

    git clone https://github.com/emrecpp/Cookify.git
    cd Cookify

  2. Install Dependencies:

    npm install

  3. Run in Development Mode:

    npm run dev

  4. Load the Extension in Chrome:

    • Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions/.
    • Enable Developer Mode.
    • Click Load Unpacked and select the dist folder from the project.

Google Drive OAuth setup

Google Drive sync is optional and disabled unless the user connects an account from Settings. To enable the Connect button in a build:

  1. Enable the Google Drive API in a Google Cloud project.

  2. Create an OAuth 2.0 client for a Chrome extension and bind it to the Cookify extension ID. The published ID is mafdkfnimilggjneibkjfejlnhcecnjd; unpacked development builds may use a different stable ID.

  3. Create a Web application OAuth client for account switching and add https://<extension-id>.chromiumapp.org/google-oauth to its authorized redirect URIs.

  4. Copy .env.example to a local .env.development or .env.production file. The file contains the public OAuth client IDs required for the build:

    VITE_GOOGLE_OAUTH_CLIENT_ID=your-chrome-extension-client-id.apps.googleusercontent.comVITE_GOOGLE_OAUTH_WEB_CLIENT_ID=your-web-client-id.apps.googleusercontent.com
  5. Run npm run build and load dist in Chrome.

Cookify requests only https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata. This hidden area is accessible to Cookify but does not grant access to the user's other Drive files. OAuth client IDs are public identifiers; never add a client secret to the extension.

    VITE_GOOGLE_OAUTH_CLIENT_ID=your-chrome-extension-client-id.apps.googleusercontent.comVITE_GOOGLE_OAUTH_WEB_CLIENT_ID=your-web-client-id.apps.googleusercontent.com
