Summary

  • check GitHub's latest stable release in the background during interactive human commands
  • cache checks and notification state for 24 hours, silently ignoring network and cache failures
  • preserve JSON automation by skipping redirected, JSON-formatted, CI, help, version, failed, and development-build invocations
  • detect Homebrew installs, recommend the matching upgrade command, and allow a 24-hour formula publication grace period
  • add omni update check with structured JSON output for agents and scripts
  • document the explicit agent-safe check in omni agent-help

Testing

  • go test ./...
  • focused go test -race for the update checker and notification lifecycle
  • go vet ./...
  • release-version build and manual help/agent-help verification
