RulerPicker 📏

CIPlatformSwiftLicense

A horizontal ruler value picker for SwiftUI. Drag the strip; whichever tick sits under the center marker is the value. Each crossed tick fires a selection haptic, ticks blur and dim with distance from center, and the edges fade out so the control sits cleanly on any background in light or dark mode.

Inspired by the timer picker Apple introduced in the iOS 27 (beta 1) Control Center.

ezgif-575e0ca1b3c5cfbc

Features

  • 🎚 Smooth, momentum-scrolling ruler with a fixed center marker
  • 📳 Per-tick selection haptics (sensoryFeedback)
  • 🌫 Distance-based blur + dim falloff and transparent edge fade
  • 🌗 Light/dark-mode correct on any background (alpha-masked edges)
  • 🎨 Themes with the standard SwiftUI .tint(_:)
  • 🪶 Tiny, dependency-free, one type to learn

Requirements

  • iOS 17+
  • Swift 6 / Xcode 16+

Installation

Swift Package Manager

In Xcode: File ▸ Add Package Dependencies… and enter:

https://github.com/fl034/RulerPicker.git

Or in Package.swift:

dependencies:[.package(url:"https://github.com/fl034/RulerPicker.git", from:"0.1.0")]

Usage

import SwiftUI
import RulerPicker
structTimerView:View{@Stateprivatevarminutes=15varbody:someView{VStack(spacing:40){Text(String(format:"%02d:00", minutes)).font(.system(size:72, weight:.light, design:.rounded)).monospacedDigit()RulerPicker(value: $minutes, range:1...60).frame(height:90)}.tint(.orange)}}

A wider range with sparser labels

RulerPicker(value: $kilograms, range:30...200, labelEvery:10).tint(.teal)

API

RulerPicker is driven by a single binding plus a few layout options:

ParameterTypeDefaultDescription
valueBinding<Int>The selected value (the tick under the marker).
rangeClosedRange<Int>1...60Inclusive range of selectable values.
stepInt1Distance between adjacent ticks, in value units.
labelEveryInt5Draw a number above every Nth value.
highlightColorColorColor(.label)Color the centered tick flashes to as it crosses the marker.

The tick, label and marker colors follow the ambient .tint.

Example app

A runnable demo lives in Example/ with two screens (Timer and Weight). Open Example/RulerPickerDemo.xcodeproj and run — no extra tooling required. The project is generated with Tuist; to regenerate it, run tuist generate inside Example/.

RulerPicker 📏

CIPlatformSwiftLicense

A horizontal ruler value picker for SwiftUI. Drag the strip; whichever tick sits under the center marker is the value. Each crossed tick fires a selection haptic, ticks blur and dim with distance from center, and the edges fade out so the control sits cleanly on any background in light or dark mode.

Inspired by the timer picker Apple introduced in the iOS 27 (beta 1) Control Center.

ezgif-575e0ca1b3c5cfbc

Features

  • 🎚 Smooth, momentum-scrolling ruler with a fixed center marker
  • 📳 Per-tick selection haptics (sensoryFeedback)
  • 🌫 Distance-based blur + dim falloff and transparent edge fade
  • 🌗 Light/dark-mode correct on any background (alpha-masked edges)
  • 🎨 Themes with the standard SwiftUI .tint(_:)
  • 🪶 Tiny, dependency-free, one type to learn

Requirements

  • iOS 17+
  • Swift 6 / Xcode 16+

Installation

Swift Package Manager

In Xcode: File ▸ Add Package Dependencies… and enter:

https://github.com/fl034/RulerPicker.git

Or in Package.swift:

dependencies:[.package(url:"https://github.com/fl034/RulerPicker.git", from:"0.1.0")]

Usage

import SwiftUI
import RulerPicker
structTimerView:View{@Stateprivatevarminutes=15varbody:someView{VStack(spacing:40){Text(String(format:"%02d:00", minutes)).font(.system(size:72, weight:.light, design:.rounded)).monospacedDigit()RulerPicker(value: $minutes, range:1...60).frame(height:90)}.tint(.orange)}}
