docs: tell iPhone users to use a computer, not the legacy iOS app - #176
Merged
Conversation
The previous wording listed the legacy iOS app as a third option for iPhone
owners. That buried the actual answer and pointed people at an app that is
being discontinued.
The point worth making is that this is an improvement, not a regression: the
old native apps only ran on a phone, so an iPhone owner had to use the iPhone
app. The web app runs on any desktop or laptop, so a computer is now the
normal way to set up a Blox and no phone is needed at all.
- iOS guidance across fxblox-app.md, mainnet-transition/{index,ios,
new-installation,existing-testnet}.md now reads "iOS is not supported --
use a computer (Windows, macOS or Linux) with Chrome or Edge", and no
longer offers the legacy iOS app as a route.
- ios.md: retitled section, "Don't start on the iOS app" caution, and the
transition steps now finish on a computer rather than on the iOS app.
- Legacy mobile apps section is kept for people who already have the apps
installed, with an explicit "don't set up a new Blox with them".
- macOS spelled out everywhere alongside Windows and Linux, since an iPhone
owner most often has a Mac.
- New troubleshooting entry: on macOS, Chrome needs System Settings >
Privacy & Security > Bluetooth *and* Local Network, or Web Bluetooth and
the LAN path fail silently.
