This PR adds Node.js specific bundler plugins that can be accessed directly as named exports on the @sentry/node package.

  • @sentry/node/vite
  • @sentry/node/rollup
  • @sentry/node/webpack
  • @sentry/node/esbuild

These essentially combine the regular Sentry bundler plugins (debug ids + sourcemap upload) with the orchestrion injection plugins including all the default instrumentations. Framework SDKs can use these and optionally pass down additional instrumentations but this option is hidden in the jsdocs.

low: I wonder if this could this be added as a peerOptional dep? The main users of the Node SDK are (I assume?) mostly using it just at runtime, so bringing in the bundler-plugins would add a lot of install weight, including the CLI that has postinstall script.

Tradeoff would be that users have to explicitly add @sentry/bundler-plugins to use the bundler plugins in @sentry/node, which is admittedly a bit weird.

I wonder if this could this be added as a peerOptional dep?

At that point they might as well go in the bundler plugins package?

so bringing in the bundler-plugins would add a lot of install weight, including the CLI that has postinstall script.

Looking at the dependencies there is quite a bit of overlap between both, especially with all the Sentry and orchestrion deps. The babel stuff is quite large though and the CLI won't improve until we update.

The Node SDK currently sits at around 40MB which is less than comparable SDKs I've checked (50-90MB).

low: I wonder if this could this be added as a peerOptional dep? The main users of the Node SDK are (I assume?) mostly using it just at runtime, so bringing in the bundler-plugins would add a lot of install weight, including the CLI that has postinstall script.
Tradeoff would be that users have to explicitly add @sentry/bundler-plugins to use the bundler plugins in @sentry/node, which is admittedly a bit weird.

I wonder if this could this be added as a peerOptional dep?
At that point they might as well go in the bundler plugins package?
so bringing in the bundler-plugins would add a lot of install weight, including the CLI that has postinstall script.
Looking at the dependencies there is quite a bit of overlap between both, especially with all the Sentry and orchestrion deps. The babel stuff is quite large though and the CLI won't improve until we update.
The Node SDK currently sits at around 40MB which is less than comparable SDKs I've checked (50-90MB).

This PR adds Node.js specific bundler plugins that can be accessed directly as named exports on the @sentry/node package.
  • @sentry/node/vite
  • @sentry/node/rollup
  • @sentry/node/webpack
  • @sentry/node/esbuild
These essentially combine the regular Sentry bundler plugins (debug ids + sourcemap upload) with the orchestrion injection plugins including all the default instrumentations. Framework SDKs can use these and optionally pass down additional instrumentations but this option is hidden in the jsdocs.

low: I wonder if this could this be added as a peerOptional dep? The main users of the Node SDK are (I assume?) mostly using it just at runtime, so bringing in the bundler-plugins would add a lot of install weight, including the CLI that has postinstall script.
Tradeoff would be that users have to explicitly add @sentry/bundler-plugins to use the bundler plugins in @sentry/node, which is admittedly a bit weird.

I wonder if this could this be added as a peerOptional dep?
At that point they might as well go in the bundler plugins package?
so bringing in the bundler-plugins would add a lot of install weight, including the CLI that has postinstall script.
Looking at the dependencies there is quite a bit of overlap between both, especially with all the Sentry and orchestrion deps. The babel stuff is quite large though and the CLI won't improve until we update.
The Node SDK currently sits at around 40MB which is less than comparable SDKs I've checked (50-90MB).

This PR adds Node.js specific bundler plugins that can be accessed directly as named exports on the @sentry/node package.
  • @sentry/node/vite
  • @sentry/node/rollup
  • @sentry/node/webpack
  • @sentry/node/esbuild

low: I wonder if this could this be added as a peerOptional dep? The main users of the Node SDK are (I assume?) mostly using it just at runtime, so bringing in the bundler-plugins would add a lot of install weight, including the CLI that has postinstall script.
Tradeoff would be that users have to explicitly add @sentry/bundler-plugins to use the bundler plugins in @sentry/node, which is admittedly a bit weird.

At that point they might as well go in the bundler plugins package?
so bringing in the bundler-plugins would add a lot of install weight, including the CLI that has postinstall script.
Looking at the dependencies there is quite a bit of overlap between both, especially with all the Sentry and orchestrion deps. The babel stuff is quite large though and the CLI won't improve until we update.
The Node SDK currently sits at around 40MB which is less than comparable SDKs I've checked (50-90MB).

This PR adds Node.js specific bundler plugins that can be accessed directly as named exports on the @sentry/node package.
  • @sentry/node/vite
  • @sentry/node/rollup
  • @sentry/node/webpack
  • @sentry/node/esbuild
These essentially combine the regular Sentry bundler plugins (debug ids + sourcemap upload) with the orchestrion injection plugins including all the default instrumentations. Framework SDKs can use these and optionally pass down additional instrumentations but this option is hidden in the jsdocs.

Looking at the dependencies there is quite a bit of overlap between both, especially with all the Sentry and orchestrion deps. The babel stuff is quite large though and the CLI won't improve until we update.
