Hi! I'm Fedir Gontsa.

Cartographic designer and GIS specialist from Cherkasy, Ukraine, with over 10 years in cartography. I work at the intersection of spatial data, map design, and Ukrainian cultural heritage, and I'm skilled in all stages of producing presentation-quality maps.

My path runs through archaeology, architecture, and landscape-park research — different fields that share one instinct: making sense of space and shape, and giving it a form others can read. Alongside mapping, I teach design and spatial thinking to art students at university and research ruined and lost landscape parks in the Cherkasy region.

You can see my work on my personal site or Behance. I work mostly with open-source tools — QGIS, Python, SAGA GIS, MapLibre — and have been a Linux user since 2003, with a solid grasp of web technologies and system administration. I also draw and sketch, and care about art as both an observer and a maker.

I'm a very active OpenStreetMap volunteer and a member of the Ukraine OpenStreetMap community.

Hi! I'm Fedir Gontsa.
Cartographic designer and GIS specialist from Cherkasy, Ukraine, with over 10 years in cartography. I work at the intersection of spatial data, map design, and Ukrainian cultural heritage, and I'm skilled in all stages of producing presentation-quality maps.
My path runs through archaeology, architecture, and landscape-park research — different fields that share one instinct: making sense of space and shape, and giving it a form others can read. Alongside mapping, I teach design and spatial thinking to art students at university and research ruined and lost landscape parks in the Cherkasy region.
You can see my work on my personal site or Behance. I work mostly with open-source tools — QGIS, Python, SAGA GIS, MapLibre — and have been a Linux user since 2003, with a solid grasp of web technologies and system administration. I also draw and sketch, and care about art as both an observer and a maker.
I'm a very active OpenStreetMap volunteer and a member of the Ukraine OpenStreetMap community.
Research fields: landscape architecture, urban planning, heritage & GIS. Google Scholar
