    Hi, I'm Ian Blas

I'm a developer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, building educational software focused on language learning, etymology, and writing systems.

My current work is centered on tools for Mandarin Chinese and Interlingua IALA, combining structured learning, linguistic context, and open-source development.

    About Me

I'm interested in the intersection of languages, education, software, and AI-assisted learning.

I like building tools that help learners understand languages beyond memorization: through structure, roots, morphology, etymology, and historical development.

My main focus today is creating learning platforms that make linguistic knowledge more accessible, especially for people interested in constructed languages, classical roots, and Chinese characters.

    Current Projects

    Schola Interlingua

Schola Interlingua is a free software platform for learning Interlingua IALA.

The project includes structured lessons, readings, review tools, progress tracking, and multilingual support.

Its goal is to make Interlingua easier to learn through a clear, modern, and accessible digital platform.

    Chety

Chety is an educational dictionary app for learning Mandarin Chinese through character etymology, morphology, and historical evolution.

It is an interactive adaptation of Chinese Characters: An Easy Learning Based on Their Etymology and Evolution, the result of nearly three decades of research by Spanish sinologist Pedro Ceinos-Arcones.

The app includes etymology-based explanations for over 5,000 Chinese characters, covering most characters in modern use, including all HSK levels.

It also features a full word dictionary with morphological analysis, historical-etymological explanations, linguistic notes, flashcards, audio pronunciation, visual character evolution, and an interactive reader.

The goal is to help learners recognize and understand Chinese writing at both the individual character and full-word levels.
