Ruska CLI

Command-line interface for Orchestra - AI Agent Orchestration Platform.

Install

# Install globally from npm
npm install -g @ruska/cli
# Or run directly with npx
npx @ruska/cli --help

--truncate <n> Max characters for tool output (default: 500)
--truncate-lines Max lines for tool output (default: 10)
--full-output Disable truncation (show full output)

--name Assistant name (required)
--model Model to use (default: openai:gpt-4.1-mini)

--tools Comma-separated list of tools

Authentication

Before using the CLI, you need to configure your API key:

$ ruska auth

This will prompt you to:

  1. Select your Orchestra host (Production, Development, or Custom URL)
  2. Enter your API key (get this from Settings in the Orchestra web app)

Your credentials are stored in ~/.ruska/auth.json.

Commands

ruska auth

Configure API authentication. Interactive command that prompts for:

  • Host selection (production/development/custom)
  • API key input (masked for security)

The command validates your API key before saving.

ruska assistants

List all your assistants. Requires authentication.

$ ruska assistants

ruska chat <message>

Chat with the LLM (optionally with an assistant) using streaming. Requires authentication.

Direct chat with default LLM:

$ ruska chat "Hello, how are you?"

Start a new conversation with an assistant:

$ ruska chat "Hello, how are you?" -a e5120812-3bcc-4b1e-93fb-3c1264291dfe

Continue an existing thread:

$ ruska chat "Follow up question" -t <thread-id>

JSON output mode (for scripting):

$ ruska chat "Hello" -a <assistant-id> --json

JSON mode is auto-enabled when output is piped:

$ ruska chat "Hello" -a <assistant-id>| jq '.type'

Options:

ruska create

Create a new assistant. Can be used in non-interactive mode with flags or interactive mode with -i.

Non-interactive mode (default):

Launch the interactive TUI (Terminal User Interface) mode with a full-screen interface.

Deployment

Publishing @ruska/cli to NPM.

Automated (CI/CD)

Push a version tag to trigger the GitHub Actions workflow:

git add package.json

Manual Publishing

Use the manual scripts when CI/CD fails or for testing:

./scripts/publish/verify-build.sh
# 4. Publish to NPM (includes all checks)

Requirements

  • Node.js 18+
  • NPM authentication (npm login)
  • 2FA enabled for npm writes (recommended)
  • NPM_TOKEN secret configured for CI

Command-line interface for Orchestra - AI Agent Orchestration Platform.

Authentication

Before using the CLI, you need to configure your API key:

$ ruska auth

This will prompt you to:

  1. Select your Orchestra host (Production, Development, or Custom URL)
  2. Enter your API key (get this from Settings in the Orchestra web app)

Your credentials are stored in ~/.ruska/auth.json.

Commands

ruska auth

Configure API authentication. Interactive command that prompts for:

  • Host selection (production/development/custom)
  • API key input (masked for security)

The command validates your API key before saving.

ruska assistants

List all your assistants. Requires authentication.

$ ruska assistants

Chat with the LLM (optionally with an assistant) using streaming. Requires authentication.

Direct chat with default LLM:

Start a new conversation with an assistant:

Continue an existing thread:

Ruska CLI

Command-line interface for Orchestra - AI Agent Orchestration Platform.

Install

# Install globally from npm

Authentication

Before using the CLI, you need to configure your API key:

$ ruska auth

This will prompt you to:

  1. Select your Orchestra host (Production, Development, or Custom URL)
  2. Enter your API key (get this from Settings in the Orchestra web app)

Your credentials are stored in ~/.ruska/auth.json.

Commands

ruska auth

Configure API authentication. Interactive command that prompts for:

  • Host selection (production/development/custom)
  • API key input (masked for security)

The command validates your API key before saving.

ruska assistants

List all your assistants. Requires authentication.

$ ruska assistants

ruska chat <message>

Chat with the LLM (optionally with an assistant) using streaming. Requires authentication.

Direct chat with default LLM:

Start a new conversation with an assistant:

Continue an existing thread:

JSON output mode (for scripting):

Ruska CLI

Command-line interface for Orchestra - AI Agent Orchestration Platform.

Install

# Install globally from npm
npm install -g @ruska/cli
# Or run directly with npx
npx @ruska/cli --help

-a, --assistant Assistant ID (optional, uses default chat if omitted)

--truncate <n> Max characters for tool output (default: 500)
--truncate-lines Max lines for tool output (default: 10)

Authentication

Before using the CLI, you need to configure your API key:

$ ruska auth

This will prompt you to:

  1. Select your Orchestra host (Production, Development, or Custom URL)
  2. Enter your API key (get this from Settings in the Orchestra web app)

Your credentials are stored in ~/.ruska/auth.json.

Commands

ruska auth

Configure API authentication. Interactive command that prompts for:

  • Host selection (production/development/custom)
  • API key input (masked for security)

The command validates your API key before saving.

ruska assistants

List all your assistants. Requires authentication.

ruska chat <message>

Chat with the LLM (optionally with an assistant) using streaming. Requires authentication.

Direct chat with default LLM:

$ ruska chat "Hello, how are you?"

Start a new conversation with an assistant:

$ ruska chat "Hello, how are you?" -a e5120812-3bcc-4b1e-93fb-3c1264291dfe

Continue an existing thread:

$ ruska chat "Follow up question" -t <thread-id>

JSON output mode (for scripting):

$ ruska chat "Hello" -a <assistant-id> --json

JSON mode is auto-enabled when output is piped:

ruska create

Create a new assistant. Can be used in non-interactive mode with flags or interactive mode with -i.

Non-interactive mode (default):

Deployment

  • NPM authentication (npm login)
