Motivation and Context

The v3 release is the appropriate breaking-change window to remove compatibility APIs that have completed their deprecation cycle. This PR removes deprecated aliases, obsolete builder helpers, and unreachable error variants whose replacements have been available since before v3. It retians protocol compatibility APIs that are still needed, including deprecations introduced for the 2026-07-28 spec.

How Has This Been Tested?

All tests are still passing. Reviewers can verify the change.

Breaking Changes

Yes. Code using removed aliases must migrate to their established replacements, such as plural *Params names, Elicit*, ResourceTemplateReference, SamplingMessageContentBlock, PrimitiveSchemaDefinition, MetaObject, and ErrorData. Callers of the removed enum builder shortcuts should use required_enum_schema or optional_enum_schema, and callers of TokioChildProcess::split should use its Transport implementation.

  • New feature (non-breaking change which adds functionality)
  • Breaking change (fix or feature that would cause existing functionality to change)

Merge remote-tracking branch 'upstream/main'
66c38a2
Brings the fork from 3.0.0-beta.3 to stable 3.1.0 (33 commits).
Conflicts resolved:
- crates/rmcp/CHANGELOG.md: kept the fork's [Unreleased] bare-boolean-subschema
entry above upstream's 3.0.0-beta.4 .. 3.1.0 release sections.
- ROADMAP.md: took upstream's restructured conformance tables (its new
"Informational" section supersedes the fork's extension table) and kept the
fork-specific section appended at EOF.
Fork surface re-verified intact: anthropic-ext feature, schemars 1.2 pin
(ReplaceBoolSchemas normalizer), rand removal from server-side-http,
normalize_call_tool_result dispatch hook, JsonAndArtifact wrapper detection.
Adapted to upstream's removal of deprecated v3 APIs (modelcontextprotocol#1066): anthropic_ext
now names MetaObject directly instead of the removed `Meta` alias.

Adapted to upstream's removal of deprecated v3 APIs (modelcontextprotocol#1066): anthropic_ext
now names MetaObject directly instead of the removed `Meta` alias.

Motivation and Context
The v3 release is the appropriate breaking-change window to remove compatibility APIs that have completed their deprecation cycle. This PR removes deprecated aliases, obsolete builder helpers, and unreachable error variants whose replacements have been available since before v3. It retians protocol compatibility APIs that are still needed, including deprecations introduced for the 2026-07-28 spec.
How Has This Been Tested?
All tests are still passing. Reviewers can verify the change.
Breaking Changes
Yes. Code using removed aliases must migrate to their established replacements, such as plural *Params names, Elicit*, ResourceTemplateReference, SamplingMessageContentBlock, PrimitiveSchemaDefinition, MetaObject, and ErrorData. Callers of the removed enum builder shortcuts should use required_enum_schema or optional_enum_schema, and callers of TokioChildProcess::split should use its Transport implementation.

Code using removed aliases must migrate to their established replacements, such as plural *Params names, Elicit*, ResourceTemplateReference, SamplingMessageContentBlock, PrimitiveSchemaDefinition, MetaObject, and ErrorData. Callers of the removed enum builder shortcuts should use required_enum_schema or optional_enum_schema, and callers of TokioChildProcess::split should use its Transport implementation.

Merge remote-tracking branch 'upstream/main'

Brings the fork from 3.0.0-beta.3 to stable 3.1.0 (33 commits).
Conflicts resolved:
- crates/rmcp/CHANGELOG.md: kept the fork's [Unreleased] bare-boolean-subschema
entry above upstream's 3.0.0-beta.4 .. 3.1.0 release sections.
- ROADMAP.md: took upstream's restructured conformance tables (its new
"Informational" section supersedes the fork's extension table) and kept the
fork-specific section appended at EOF.
Fork surface re-verified intact: anthropic-ext feature, schemars 1.2 pin
(ReplaceBoolSchemas normalizer), rand removal from server-side-http,
normalize_call_tool_result dispatch hook, JsonAndArtifact wrapper detection.
Adapted to upstream's removal of deprecated v3 APIs (modelcontextprotocol#1066): anthropic_ext
now names MetaObject directly instead of the removed `Meta` alias.
