Summary

  • add optional parentPid and parentCheckInterval to StdioServerTransport
  • periodically check parent liveness with process.kill(parentPid, 0) and auto-close when parent is gone
  • clear monitor timer on close and treat EPERM as still-alive

Why

Issue #208 describes stdio server processes lingering after the host process exits. This adds an opt-in host PID watchdog similar to what the VS Code LSP server uses.

Changes

  • StdioServerTransportOptions (new export) in packages/server/src/server/stdio.ts
  • parent monitor lifecycle in StdioServerTransport.start() / close()
  • workerd shim update for process.kill
  • tests for parent-exit auto-close and timer cleanup
  • docs example for parent PID monitoring

Summary
  • add optional parentPid and parentCheckInterval to StdioServerTransport
  • periodically check parent liveness with process.kill(parentPid, 0) and auto-close when parent is gone
  • clear monitor timer on close and treat EPERM as still-alive
Why
Issue #208 describes stdio server processes lingering after the host process exits. This adds an opt-in host PID watchdog similar to what the VS Code LSP server uses.
Changes
  • StdioServerTransportOptions (new export) in packages/server/src/server/stdio.ts
  • parent monitor lifecycle in StdioServerTransport.start() / close()
  • workerd shim update for process.kill
  • tests for parent-exit auto-close and timer cleanup
  • docs example for parent PID monitoring
