Summary

  • Change the server default for defaultThreadEnvMode from local to worktree so new draft threads create a new worktree by default (web, desktop, and mobile all read this setting).
  • newWorktreesStartFromOrigin already defaulted to on; left unchanged.
  • Align mobile's pre-config-load fallbacks with DEFAULT_SERVER_SETTINGS so they cannot drift from the shared default.

Test plan

  • vp test run packages/contracts/src/settings.test.ts apps/web/src/lib/chatThreadActions.test.ts
  • Fresh environment: Settings → New threads shows New worktree and Start from origin on
  • New draft thread starts in worktree mode without touching settings
  • Explicit Local preference still saves and sticks after reload

Summary
  • Change the server default for defaultThreadEnvMode from local to worktree so new draft threads create a new worktree by default (web, desktop, and mobile all read this setting).

Summary
  • Change the server default for defaultThreadEnvMode from local to worktree so new draft threads create a new worktree by default (web, desktop, and mobile all read this setting).
  • newWorktreesStartFromOrigin already defaulted to on; left unchanged.
  • Align mobile's pre-config-load fallbacks with DEFAULT_SERVER_SETTINGS so they cannot drift from the shared default.
Test plan
  • vp test run packages/contracts/src/settings.test.ts apps/web/src/lib/chatThreadActions.test.ts
  •  Fresh environment: Settings → New threads shows New worktree and Start from origin on
  •  New draft thread starts in worktree mode without touching settings
  •  Explicit Local preference still saves and sticks after reload
